AA, KK Why Have Thou Forsaken Me???

That’s not the way it reads, though. He says he figured the other guy for ‘pocket K’, but since two other people stayed in he’d get a little money. Meaning, he thought the pot would be split, but he might as well keep betting to get half of the other two guy’s actions.

No big deal. People misremember hands all the time.

I’m horrible at remembering hands, but my friends say that the more I play, the better I’ll get – that all of a sudden I’ll realize that I can remember hands, even ones I wasn’t involved in. Have you found that to be the case, or do you think that people either remember them or they don’t?

Wait… so you want your opponents to play better? Is that your complaint?

I was tired of my AA and KK getting cracked too, now I just go all in whenever I have them. I win a lot more pots this way.

When I play in the casino, I usually play 1/2 100$ NL (That’s 100$ max buy in)

I have pocket 10’s my chip stack was second on the table with 400$ plus, full table (10) I’m on the button. 4 callers to me, I raise to 20$ SB folds, BB calls, the chip leader calls, 3 other fold. Leaving three players.
FLOP: 10s 10d Qd

I about shat myself, debated if I should slow play, BB checks, chip leader raises (as been his habit) I re-raise to 100$, BB folds, chip leader calls.

TURN 2d

Here I am really excited thinking chip leader had a diamond draw and he caught it, wasn’t he going to be depressed here soon. He raises 100$ I re-raise all in. He calls… flips over QQ I flip over 10/10 with a smile.

RIVER Q

I about cried… I only bought in with 60$ so it wasn’t a massive loss, but man it sucked. And the next week the casino started bad beats. A little too late (Bad beats for four of a kind 8’s or higher losing)

Yep, the more you play, the more you’ll catch on. I have hands running through my head when I’m not playing, and when I’m nowhere near a deck of cards. What I’ll do when I get, AA, or 99, or 2 4. I play with a regular crowd, and I envision being up against those folks, with certain hands.

It may consume you, so you’ve been warned.

I don’t really value your opinion on the matter, frankly.

You think you can Pit something without the balls to back it up? If it was bad play you should Pit yourself, not the cards.

Wow! You’re an asshole! So you are saying that when I get AA orr KK in the pocket and lose 8 times and get so frustrated by it that I want to vent, that I have to come in here and defend every hand, even though I never once claimed I played them perfectly and still got screwed? In fact I will concede I played some of them poorly and I got unlucky in some of them.

You came to the Pit with your “vent” and now you’re bitching that somebody acted like an asshole, which just proves my point for me.

If you concede that losing eight times with rockets or cowboys is probably at least partly your own fuck-up, then I withdraw my comment.

What was your point? That you’re an asshole? You made that one pretty well. If your point is that it is possible that G.O. didn’t play the best way possible, that is entirely true, but you could have made that point without being an asshole. Both AA and KK have positive expected value, and losing with them, even if played poorly, kinda sucks, and losing with them 8 times in a row really sucks. And that was the point of the OP.

“Ordinary bad things that happened with my card games” threads should go in MPSIMS then. What is he Pitting? Bah. If it makes me an asshole, so be it. Suddenly we’re supposed to be nice to everybody with a problem and an hour to waste, in here? Okay, fine.

{{{{{{Gangster Octopus}}}}}}

Dame Fortune. Lady Luck. Sure bad beats and crap cards are a part of poker, but poor customer service, bad clothes, and war are all part of life too. The guy just wanted to vent.

The chasm between being an asshole and being a hyper sensitive emo must have escaped your steel trap mind. But at least we agree you’re an asshole, so things are looking up.

You know, somebody else said it first, and my BFF Gangster Octopus basically said no, it wasn’t his fault, he did everything he could. Now he’s singing a different song. Scuse the hell out of me for breaking up your little pity party, but when I saw that I thought, back it up, then. If he’d copped to what you’re now telling us for him you think he really meant to begin with, or if he’d even bothered to write a real rant instead of something that’s more punctuation than words, I’d have left you to cry in each other’s beers.

Where did I ever say it wasn’t my fault?

That was your response to ParentalAdvisory giving you advice on what to avoid with high pocket pairs. What did you mean - no matter what you try you’ll lose because you suck so bad? Or maybe ‘It’s not my fault’?

“…every hand’s a winner, and every hand’s a loser…”

  • The Gambler

I think this is hilarious. I play Texas Hold’em with a group of people at the local bar (yeah, I know it’s illegal, so sue me) and I’ve won an average of $50 every night for the last week. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go watch the wife change the new grandbaby’s diaper while I drink a beer :burp:

:stuck_out_tongue:

btw, pocket aces, pocket kings and pocket queens…I seem to win damn near every time I get them.

In real money live games, I think the pocket pair (high) play better. I do not know why, but I think it has to do with actually feeling the money in your hand, makes it less likely to call a big raise pre-flop when holding A5 os etc.

…and…

I’ve played against GO numerous times in our weekly tournament, and he DOES remember hands quite well. He CORRECTS me (as well as a few other Dopers) about my hands that I misremember, even when he isn’t in the action. So, as a testimonial, I would believe the hand histories that he recounts. Going to the “Dipshit” card says more about you rather than him. Let him rant.
GO, I was at Lauglin last Saturday and was dealt 3 hands that were pocket Aces. I won two of them readily, but I lost the third hand against 6-2 suited. I was at a $2-$6 Limit table and I bet $6 or raised any other bet by $6 from preflop to last bet. Flop: 2-K-Q, rainbow. Turn: 6. River: 2. You would think that she would have folded her 2s at the flop when there is K and Q on the board with a max bet and/or raise. Nope, it didn’t deter her. The pot was big enough for her to continue hanging after pulling 2 pair on the turn.

But damn, she actually called my max raise with 6-2 suited preflop. Limit or NL, she shouldn’t have done that. Still came home up $225 though, and popped her for a big pot just before leaving for dinner.

Uh…what?

I didn’t say he is a dipshit. I said I can’t tell if he’s a dipshit without hand histories. Which he didn’t provide, in memory form or otherwise. I didn’t do anything to stop him “ranting”. He’s now admitted that he couldn’t have been losing on luck alone, so I withdrew my comments anyway.
