AA, KK Why Have Thou Forsaken Me???

Could you leave us now to cry in each others’ beers? Because you’re kind of a cock.

I’ll bet you’re one of those obnoxious players who has to lecture everyone at the table on the correct way to play poker, aren’t you?

Don’t worry - that tendency goes away once you gain a little experience with the game.

Tell that to Phil Hellmouth.

So when a guy you don’t know tells you he just lost eight times in a row with aces, but it’s not his fault, and then says he’s not going to show you the details, you just believe him and give him a hug? And I’m a n00b asshole because I don’t? Sign me up for Shiny Anuses 'R Us monthly then, because I’d rather that than Pit Circlejerkers Anonymous.

See, the disconnect here is your insistence that “I tried playing them several different ways” means the same thing as “it’s not my fault.” It doesn’t, and you’re still being a cock.

No, you could do what Parental Advisory did, and actually give him some good advice. Or you could accept that he just wanted to bitch,. and commiserate with him. Or, if bad beat stories aren’t your thing, you could go find another thread.

Instead, you chose the, “SHOW ME YOUR HAND HISTORIES SO I CAN SHOW YOU WANT AN IDIOT YOU ARE AND WHAT A GREAT POKER PLAYER I AM!” method. Which is going to get you exactly the reaction you got: plenty of offers to tell you exactly where you can stick your pissy attitude.

And BTW, if you’ve never had big pairs like KK or AA get cracked 8 times in a row, you don’t have a lot of experience playing poker. Shit happens, dude. On a loose table, AA is never better than 50/50 to win any given pot, and against a full field it’s significantly worse, expecially if the game is aggressive. Now go flip a coin a few thousand times and tell me you don’t get a run of 8 heads somewhere along the way.

In fact, if you were 50/50 to always win with your AA (which you aren’t unless you’re always playing with less than four players in a hand, and they are weak players), then you would lose 8 times in a row every 256 times you played them, on average. And since you get Aces once ever 227 hands on average, that means you’ll get aces cracked 8 times in a row on average once every 58,000 hands or so.

Now, if you’re a full-time player and you’re playijng 100 hands an hour 8 hours a day, that little event is going to happen to you once every three or four months. And of course, since the pattern of hands doesn’t follow a nice, even distribution, and since winning with AA is usually less than a 50% proposition in a loose game, it can happen a lot more than that, even if you’re playing well.

Players with experience understand this, and take it in stride. Players that think it’s impossible unless you’re some kind of idiot generally haven’t played the game long enough to run into any bad luck.

You decide what category you fit into.

I’ve accepted that it doesn’t. Now I’m defending interpreting that way in the first place, which is r-word-ed. He should have copped to his part in the streak, not made excuses. For all I know, it wasn’t his fault. I don’t know. I’ll never know, because he won’t show me. That’s fine. It won’t keep me up tonight. Apparently just asking, implying that otherwise it’s impossible to judge dipshititude, makes the lovefest turn sour. Oh fucking well, I guess.

I wouldn’t put my hand histories up, so I don’t blame him there. But I wouldn’t start a Pit thread to bitch about my aces getting busted a lot either. If I did, I’d be ready for the fire.

You can say ‘cock’ at me all night if you want, it’s never going to hurt my feelings.

Sam, your rant depends entirely on your imagination of what I would do if I had gotten an answer. It’s bullshit. That wasn’t my intention. Get out of my head, Professor X.

As for whether bad beat stories aren’t my thing, there are some of those here, but the OP has none of 'em. We don’t even have a story. Just, his high pocket pairs got busted a lot. It is precisely because it’s so normal that I’m unimpressed.

Last two times I’ve played, I’ve been eliminated holding a Full House. 10s over first time (he had Kings over), Jacks over second time (lost to Aces over). If one can’t win on a full house, one needs a new hobby.

Did win over $200 playing blackjack on my vacation, though.

Wow. I really thought that you wanted to be the self appointed Poker Judge here. Now I see that you are merely the Poker Editor.

I’ll be damn sure to send my bad beat stories across your desk before I post them.

Yes. I’ve watched him play in our tournaments and observed him on Bodog. GO PLAYS poker…and he’s no stranger to us who would go on a Bullshit safari.

Yes. I’ve already told you about his character.

Done. :wally

Heh… Dipshit arguments aside, we call AA the “Kournikova”. Looks pretty, but loses all the time.

Slight hijack, I thought bigslick (AK), was the (A)nna (K)ournikova…

Looks good, but never wins…

Yeah, that’s how I think of it, too.

We have expanded the traditional definition from the AK, to the AA, 'cause no one has won with it, either. I beat a guy holding AA with 33 on the last hand of a tournament.

I’ve played in a real poker room only once. My worst loss was when I was holding AK. The flop was A-K-7; I was doomed.
