Why is it - maybe it isn’t but my lunch companions agree it is - that when you are on the brink of a sneeze and someone just says ‘atchooo’ the sneeze mechanism just shuts down/misfires in the most unsatisfying way. Saying cough, hiccup, fart or belch will not stop any of the aforementioned bodily functions in the same manner - why? (As an aside, wouldn’t it be great if it worked for “obnoxiously drunk”, “bad breath” or “body odour”.) Oh well, I leave it to the teeming millions.
Sorry, but that doesn’t work for me unless I’m the one that says it, for my own sneeze.
You must hang out with very suggestible people. Hmmmmm. Better spend more time here, you’ll develop an independent streak and your friends won’t be able to stop your sneezes.
that happens to me when my wife said bless you before the sneeze. I told her that makes the sneeze get stuck. Or as you said shut down in an unsatifying way
