ABC apologized because “inappropriate and unsuitable for our Monday Night Football audience.” What?? A half naked woman is inappropriate for football? Who the hell do they think is watching? Hell the cheerleaders they show are almost as naked!! Ever seen the beer commercials during MNF?
What is wrong with people… no really!?? Who the hell watches MNF than actually takes the time to complain about it? Who are these people?
I just cant stand this kind of shit, the self rightous outrage just pisses me off!! So a big FUCK YOU to every ABC viewer who actually complained about this add. I hope when TV becomes 24hour white noise, which is the only thing I think everyone could agree on as NOT being offensive, your happy!! dicks…
World Eater, but you’re asking illogical people to think logically. Can’t be done. Besides, if they turned the TV off, they might miss the next atrocity. If they don’t see it, who’s going to complain?
I love how the NFL bitched. I certainly hope that means none of the football players ever discuss their ‘bitches’ or ‘hos’ in the locker room or who they’re gonna ‘bang’ that weekend.
I mean, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, right?
Wow, isn’t amazing how ABC makes a “mistake” and suddenly everyone is talking about how ABC and this scandalous new show they want to promote? :dubious:
I was offended they used TO as the football player she bangs. Brian Westbrook or Donavan McNabb would’ve been a better choice. (You see, they’re pandering to the prima donna…)
I was also offended because I would rather see Teri Hatcher as the nude girl.
I was even offended by the blatent lack of bestiality.
But, mostly I was offended at the poor placement of the ball on the 36 yard line after 2nd and 7 at the 11:48 mark in the 2nd quarter which caused Philly to have to use a run play on the now 3rd and 1, thus changing their almost perfect 2:1 ratio of pass vs run plays to a now 1.998: 1.002 ratio.
I think tremorviolet’s got the measure of it. Carefully orchestrated scandal is the hottest new advertising technique. It requires a minimum of effort; just drop some nudity (or suggestion of same) into a sports broadcast, sit back, and watch the offenderati and the news media saturate the public with your product for you! Apologize for the “impropriety,” pay some fines, and enjoy the new revenue the publicity has brought you.
apparently, some MNF viewers didn’t want their evening of husky, brawny men wrestling one another in the dirt to be degraded by the sight of a half-naked woman.
Um, and which half was naked? The good half? Or the other half?
You have to love the irony of people being offended by a woman’s naked back just before they watch the organized mayhem and grunting homo-erotic activity that is professional football.
Earlier today one of the talking heads on CNN said that the ad “didn’t leave anything to the imagination.”
WTF? Did I see some bowdlerized version of the spot? Are these people who are all worked up complaining about seeing an ad that actually showed eroticized bits of female anatomy? Was there penetration?
Or was this guy so neutered that he’s incapable of imagining anything beyond exposed shoulder-blades?
I don’t think it was “the sight of a naked woman’s back” that people were necessarily offended by. If I may venture a guess, it’s the tacit stamp of approval on adultery ABC makes with this commercial. After all, the show they’re hyping is “Desperate Housewives”, which (as I understand, I’ve never watched) glamorizes housewives engaging in adulterous affairs.
As to the “who do they think is watching” question, I caught a caller on a local radio show this morning answering that very question. He didn’t appreciate having to explain to his 9-year-old son “what that woman was doing”.
I’d have had no problem with her lovely nakedness but for the love of pig epidermis why did they have to pay homage to T.O., the posterboy for Just Don’t Get It, the numbnut that represents all that’s wrong with the NFL today?
So you’ve actually heard real outrage? All I’ve seen are articles that state ABC has said there are complaints. I haven’t seen anything on the web. (definitely nothing even close to what happened after the Janet thing) Anyone seen any complaints (maybe from a freeper site or something) dated before the articles started coming out?
