ABC confirmed the details of the investigation and released a statement from Donaldson.

I really liked this part:

“My wife, Jan, and I are shocked by the apparent triple homicide that took place on our ranch in Hondo, New Mexico, sometime over the Fourth of July weekend while we were away in Santa Fe,” Donaldson said.

Not only does it sound like a sound bite for the 6:00 news but he establishes his alibi.

Actually, the suspect for the killings was pretty immediately pegged to be the dead man’s teenaged son, he killed his father, half (or step) sister and stepmother.

What was sad and strange was that as of late last night, ABC was publishing the names of the son, father and daughter but not the stepmother, because her family hadn’t been notified yet. Uh, if I’m watching or reading the news and I see that my son-in-law is dead and so is his wife, I think I’ve just been notified whether it’s official or not. Pretty sleazy.
