"Abhorrence for Lawrence" OR The 0-16 NFL Season Thread (2020 ed.)

Washington also looks awful, they’ll probably pick up another win or two playing the NFC East, but there’s only a few decent pieces on the team and they’ve already abandoned their second year QB.

We’re around the half-way point of the season, and many strong contenders remain. The Jets are the only remaining winless team, and seem to be making a push to be in the discussion of the worst NFL team of all time. The Texans and Jaguars are at 1-6. I don’t know much about the Jags, but the Texans have been in complete disarray all season. There are a number of two-win teams, most surprisingly the Patriots, who may finally miss the playoffs, and the Cowboys, who are massively under-performing and hampered by injuries. Shout-out to the NFC East for being the worst division I can remember. Every team is under .500, and It seems likely that the playoff team will be 7-9 or even 6-10.

Right now the Eagles lead the division at 3-4-1. They have games left against the 3 other teams in the division, plus Cleveland, Seattle, Green Bay, New Orleans, and Arizona. It’s entirely possible that they could finish with a record of 5-10-1…and win the division. And host a playoff game.

It’s crazy to think that the Jets biggest chance to get a win this year is against the Patriots.

Time to re-animate this thread. Two weeks after successfully pulling defeat from the jaws of victory against the Raiders, the Jets fucked up and beat the Rams. They let Frank Gore cannily pick up just enough for a win-sealing first down at the end.

Now the Jaguars are in line for the first pick. This is due to strength of schedule tiebreaker. The Jets have an almost 50 point worse point differential.

If you’re the Colts, do you tank in Week 17 to keep Lawrence out of the division? (Assuming that their playoff spot/seed is locked up?)

The Bears are absolutely ready to gag next week against the Jags.
