This is more along the lines of IMHO but I was wondering if anyone else out there has heard of, or absofuckinlutely loves this chick? I have not been this enthusiastic about a female artist since Emylou Harris. Abigail is hot shit. What say you? Have you heard her music?
No, but I love Emmylou. You have intrigued me, sir.
Link to her 2005 album. You can listen to it for free. I would like to hear what you think of it. I think it is GREAT I don’t understand why she has not achieved more success. Is American Idol pushing out the GREAT FANTASTIC INCREDIBLE AWESOME artists? Or am I just infatuated with her? Halo is a particularly GREATFRICKIN song…

Are you kidding me? Can you access it via iTunes? If there was a way for me to play it for you I would, believe me this woman is worth the hassle.
I love Abigail Washburn. I never really thought I’d like any music starring a banjo until I listened to her, but now I’m converted. Songs I’ve listened to approximately a gazillion times include “Eve Stole the Apple” and “Nobody’s Fault But Mine,” which I’ve taken to singing in at odd intervals (the shower, or while studying) and annoying my family.
You might also like Gillian Welch, available on Itunes too. Listen to her “Caleb Meyer”… possibly one of my favorite songs ever.
I was thinking, now where have I heard of Abigail Washburn. Was she at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco? Yes she was, but I didn’t see her there. Fuck :smack:, now I remember. I’ve seen here here in town with Bela Fleck and the Sparrow Quartet. She’s awesome!
She’s fluent in Mandarin and has recorded a couple of tunes in Mandarin, as she was planning on pursuing a law degree at Beijing University. Here’s an example. I think it’s lovely.
Man, even American Idol artists never go onto great success. She’s a complete Meh. from me, but that’s not because the world is conspiring against her. Anymore there’s lots of music of lots of people, and there are tons of people like her out there. For each their own and all that.
I know that in most Chinese music, tones are sort of forgotten. But that’s utterly bizarre, singing in such a Western style with random Chinese syllables. There’s no telling what the hell she is singing about.
