Abortion-clinic picketers.

You apparently hate lots of fucking women, literally. Don’t pretend. How somebody fucks, who they fuck, under what circumstances they fuck is none of your fucking business. Go clutch those pearls and tut tut over women who ‘deserve’ to deal with those consequences. It’s funny how it’s pro choicers like myself who think that every kid should be wanted, instead of a punishment.

No masturbation does not involve kiling anything. A sperm and an egg are required for conception.

So–what’s your opinion of oral sex? Or anal?

Why did you pick that particular phrase?

I’m honest. You’re probably seething with frustration and anger. I’m familiar with the ‘bless your heart’ style of fuck off.

Nor am I the one who hates kids and sexually active women. Have an interesting day. Not the lack of an exclamation point.

Now that exclamation points have been reduced, the use of the phrase potty mouth makes me think it’s a contemporary of my Great Aunt Hilda. And yes, that was her real name.

I think you are here presuming your conclusion. People who try to claim there is something magical about the moment of fertilization have to demonstrate why there is a relevant distinction between a sperm and an egg the nanosecond after they meet as opposed to the nanosecond before they meet. And that can’t be done unless you bring religion into it.

There’s nothing irrational about using conception as a dividing line of course. It’s mistaken in my mind, but that’s a different argument. But if you view conception as a dividing line you should realize it is just as arbitrary as saying the line should be at three months, or at birth.

Not a fan of golden showers, I take it.

There’s a clinic right across from my complex driveway and I see protestors there all the time. Most of the time they just seem to be praying. I used to be really irritated last year when one group carried really disgusting gory large signs. People drive by with their kids and don’t need to see that. I contemplated getting poster of two people having sex with the red circle and line through it and just walking over to stand with them to see what reaction I got, but figured I’d be guilty of the same thing that was irritating me.

Fortunately no signs for months and months. Just people with Bibles praying.

It’s not easy, that’s for sure. Even today, if I should brush arms with an attractive woman sitting next to me on the bus, I have thoughts and urges and desires that I’m quite certain my wife wouldn’t be thrilled about, but instead of acting on them, and ending up becoming my own client, I take them for what they are, and move on.

Male adolescent sexuality is all the more intense. But are we really slaves to biology? We can diet if we want to, we can pull all-nighters, surely we can abstain from sex until we find the one with whom we are willing to make a permanent committment? All the more so given that we, strictly speaking, do not “need” sex. Now, you may very well be more libidinous than most, who knows, but surely a “dry spell” doesn’t turn you into the Hulk, does it?

It’s precisely because the adolescent libido is so strong and the adolescent brain is so impulsive and irrational that abstinence should be particularly stressed during this period. Can children really be expected to make responsible decisions about sexuality?

We have a 4 year-old son and a 1 1/2 year old daughter. I want them to grow up in a world where Sex and the City and Jersey Shore do not define social mores. Is that so wrong?

We have a clinic around the corner that gets picketed a lot. I have been thinking about getting a clown suit and joining them. They seem to like anger, it plays into their persecution fetish, but they hate being laughed at.

Sure it is, you’re straight-up accusing pro-choicers of being something they’re not (pro-abortion) and doing so in a way that implies they’re gleeful murderers to boot. That’s a lot more vulgar than an f-bomb or two.

Most pro-choicers prefer abortions to be, to quote a phrase “safe, legal, and rare”. No one thinks abortion should be the first choice.

It’s the argument of Plato’s beard, though, isn’t it? How many hairs can you pluck out of it before it ceases to be a “beard”? “Line drawing” of any kind, even drawing the line at chromosomal unification is somewhat arbitrary, but both law and morality require it. We have a social value that murder is wrong. Even pro-choicers are against murder. Fine, so you kill the baby in the delivery room. That’s murder. What about a second before that, and a second before that, or a second before that, ad infinitum?

So, I’ve discussed my “line”. Where is your line? Can you justify it?

Yes, this. Thank you.

Another way to put it: “If you don’t want an abortion, well then, don’t have one.”

Easily, because my arguments in favor of abortion don’t depend on the status of the fetus, they depend on the rights of the woman.

No, they can not. I don’t want my kids to have sex too early. Heck, I would prefer it wait until they are in long-term committed relationships. But that just doesn’t happen. Teenagers will have sex. They are, after all, impulsive and irrational as you say.

We can suggest to our kids to abstain. We can counsel them to do so. Many if not most of them are going to go ahead and do it anyway.

So, we also need to counsel them about birth control and condoms. (And provide them.)

There is no need for there to be a dichotomy in our teachings about this.

Saying one wants them to be ‘rare’ is accepting the idea that abortion is bad. I don’t think it is. For a desperate woman they’re great, a lifesaving, legal medical procedure. So what I think we should say that abortions should be safe, legal, and nobody else’s goddamned business. The way these people go around sticking their dirty little minds up womens’ vaginas, why didn’t they just become gynecologists?

Of course having morals is not wrong.

However, when you make unwarranted assumptions about a couple entering a PP clinic, and think that a random couple you saw consisted of "a gentleman averse to the prospect of child support, who was hurrying his visibly-disconcerted “friend” into the building. "

You are showing a shocking lack of a moral compass yourself.

I’d say you were quite fortunate that all you got was a grimace. If it had been me, who was escorting my wife into the PP clinic for her appointment to get a pap smear because we were afraid that she had cervical cancer? I would have given you a bit more than a grimace; you would have been informed that you are a sanctimonious, holier than thou ass who knows nothing about our lives, or what is actually going on in a PP clinic.

That is a personal opinion rather than anything based in biological evidence.

I did some reading last week about the history of abortion in this country and I find it interesting that prior to abortion being made illegal for various reasons, not a lot of religious ones, women had certain drugs readily available to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy. It was an accepted although not talked about practice and the religious folks of this country did not consider that anything close to murder. The tradition was a point called the quickening when the woman could feel the fetus within her.
It’s also interesting to me that although lots of people refer to abortion as murder and believe as you do, :baby from conception" very few of them advocate treating women who have abortions and doctors who preform them as murderers. It makes me wonder how much conviction they have about their belief.

Of course you can believe that in spite of evidence , and make your personal decisions accordingly. The problem is trying to make it the law of the land. That requires more than a personal feeling or belief and a more complex consideration of individual rights.

Bolding added for emphasis. I can do that, right?

Unless that ‘ass’ referrred to a donkey, ‘classy lady’ whatever is going to shake her finger at you.
