abortion?

What is the logic behind the fact that in some states it’s legal to have an abortion (I guess it could not be called murder if it’s legal)
yet if you caused a woman to miscarriage by say punching her in the stomach or throwing her down a flight of stairs you would get chaged with murder. It is a total double standard.
Even though one is with consent and one is not it seems to me you would either have to charge the criminal with someother crime like assault or make abortion legally comparable to murder.
I just wondered what you guys might think personally I dont think I know enough about the subject to say abortion is or is not murder.

If I cut my hand off (for reasons which I don’t need to explain to you), you might pity me, but you’d never prosecute me. If I tried to cut your hand off (on the other hand ;)), you might wish to press charges.

To some people, an unviable foetus is simply another part of a woman’s body - very different from a hand to be sure, but still hers to so with as she wishes…

Grim

thats a very good pint I never thought of it like that

Secondly, We can assume that the woman didn’t ask to be flung down a flight of stairs, hence the assault charge. I’m guessing here, but I bet no matter what state you live in, you can’t jump on a pregnant woman, chloroform her and start giving her an abortion without her consent…

I think you may not have given your OP too much thought…

Anyhoo…
