About having your membership voluntarily suspended

Over in MPSIMS, Mangetout announces that he’s taking a break from the boards, and asked to have his membership suspended temporarily.

Let’s say I ask that my membership be suspended for a month. Do I get a month credited to my membership at the end, or am I just SOL on the time that I’m not posting?

At the discount rate of $7.48 per year, a month costs $0.62. It might be more work than it is worth to manage.

I think if you are voluntarily suspending yourself then why should the mods make any special effort? They are already making special effort, IMO, in suspending you because you can’t “self-suspend” - meaning, you can’t just stay away from the boards.

In other words, your choice, your problem. Now if the *mods * were to suspend you for an infraction for a month, depending on the situation I think they should extend your membership by that much time.

I don’t know the answer to this, but I’ve made inquiries and someone should be able to respond soon.

We’re not set up to keep track of who asked to be suspended when, and the amount of money is trivial anyway, so you’re SOL.

If the amount of money is trivial then why do you bother charging people to register? o_O

The amount of money during a month suspension is trivial to an individual user. An entire year’s membership is twelve times greater and not trivial. o_O

About what I figured, I just thought I’d ask. Thanks.
