Does he stay in a coop overnight? If he’s confined in a coop with a low ceiling, so he can’t stretch upwards, it may stop the crowing. May. The simple fact is that roosters crow. If you won’t get rid of him (or eat him), you may just have to find money in your budget for paying those fines on a regular basis.

Welcome to the Straight Dope Message Boards, rhonda, we’re glad you’re here.

I’ve added a link to what I assume is the Staff Report that you’re commenting on. This is helpful to other readers. If I’ve got the wrong link, or that wasn’t what you intended, please either post here or email me at ckdexthavn@aol.com and I’ll be glad to fix it.

Forget about your rooster, what about my cock?

From what I’ve heard, it’s really nothing to crow about.

That’s what she said! :frowning:

Already with the fowl puns. I suggest browsing at backyard chickens forums, they probably have an answer. Although the only answer I have is to kill him or get rid of him. Roosters never shut up.

Eat him while he is young.

No joke. Get him a a few hens for company.
He’ll still crow, but not as often. Worked for my family, and fertile eggs are better for you.

You need the brand new product Cock-a-doodle Don’t[SUP]tm[/SUP], a tiny collar that gives an electric shock if the decibel level reaches the setting you pick for the device.
