Also, I don’t know what to think about someone with 5000+ posts who apparently never noticed this difference.
If anyone else feels the distinction is obscure, please feel free to tell us. But somehow, I don’t think we overestimated the bulk of our target audience.
Enough. More than enough, really.
But before I close this thread, let me state once again our policy regarding copyrighted material:
As we require others to respect our copyrights – the Chicago Reader legal staff spends quite a bit of time persuading people to remove Cecil’s material from their websites and the like-- we also must respect the rights of others.
We will always err on the side of caution when we look at situations where copyright is at issue.
Programs such as “Kazaa” are not welcome on this site because they facilitate the theft of copyrighted material – files are disseminated without the permission of the copyright holder and no compensation is made to them – that’s theft as far as we’re concerned and we will not have it here.
When the day comes that a file sharing program/file sharing site truly works in accordance with the law and copyrighted material is treated as it should be, you can ring in that site on the SDMB as much as you like, we’re all for it.
