His mother or his step-mother?
His mother.
“Vampire” is not a genre near so much as “period historical fiction + monsters”. That’s a very specific genre.
God, that’s obnoxious.
His stepmother is buried with his father. His mother’s grave was unmarked for many years but was given a tombstone after Lincoln became president.
The Washington monument could be a flash forward. Does the novel have any parts that take place long after Lincoln’s death?

Yes, actually, Since it’s focus is his presidency it has me wanting to read one with more detail on his earlier (specifically 18th century) life.

As it happens, Lincoln is played in the movie by Benjamin Walker, probably best known up to now for his portrayal of Jackson in the play Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson: Benjamin Walker (actor) - Wikipedia

Hmm. I was familiar with the title, but having seen clips from it in which characters were more or less in modern dress and sang rock ballads I’d assumed it was like Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? or Streetcar Named Desire in taking its name from a bit of dialogue that has little to do with the central character or action. Interesting to learn it really is about Andrew Jackson.
Yes. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
Plus the first section of the book deals with how the author, in current day, was delivered the material to write the book.
The book never intrigued me and now the trailer has repelled me.
