Active shooter at Ohio State University

Was there, in fact, a “shooter”?

The reports I’ve seen are unclear. Some suggest there was a maniac with a knife, but that the sounds of gunfire MAY have been the police.

And I also agree with this. If the MSM didn’t cover these type of things in infinite detail, we’d hear lots more cries of “Big government interference!,” “False flag operations!” and other bullshit. Plus, if the major news sources turned a blind eye, every practitioner of yellow journalism would have a heyday filling the gap. The information would get out no matter what, leaving many to question why CNN, say, weren’t doing their job, exactly what they were trying to hide and who was benefitting from their silence.

In this day and age, the genie is already out of the bottle and her name is Pandora. There’s no way to put her back. Our bloodlust must be sated and as mentioned above, there’s really no compelling reason (as deterrence is a non-issue) for the world not to be given the facts once known.

The Columbus Dispatch’s account of events sounds very strange. Someone called in a report of a fluorine leak in a science building that caused everyone to evacuate to a courtyard, then a car deliberately drove into that crowd. Two people got out of the car, according to law enforcement. Most of the injuries were stabbings.

So it’s not clear that there ever was a shooter, nor whether the second suspect has been isolated or caught. It sounds like the report of a gas leak was an excuse to gather a crowd, but I guess that’s still just speculation. It’s not clear where the stabbings took place, i.e., in the same courtyard or elsewhere.

Fox News is reporting that one person got out of the car with a gun, and the other with a knife, and that the knife guy started chasing people around. It’s not clear which suspect was killed.

My guess is that this is one or more angry Michigan fans.

Looks like a car and a knife. The gun must have been police fire.

It takes a special kind of incompetence for someone to resort to using a knife to try to cause a massacre here in America. “Hey asshole, you’re doing it wrong!” (and, for that, we can be grateful)

Dead suspect is, Mohamed Ali, 18 (or 20, I’ve read both) year old Somali, in USA per NBC, as legal permanent resident and refugee. No idea if Mo was a student at The Ohio State University, though NBC is claiming he was a student.

Looks like ivylass has it right. Reports seem to be converging on the notion of an attack that consisted of running a vehicle into a crowd of people followed by hacking at them with a knife or machete.

The “active shooter” report is suspect - only shots fired may have been by a (campus?) cop who killed the perp.

Anybody know where Jim Harbaugh is today?

Probably buying new headsets.

Sure but the alert to the students would probably go out the same way. They understand active shooter drills. No one does active knifer drills.

Oh shit, I was wrong. Who would have ever guessed a Somali refugee might be involved in something like this? Who indeed?

HurricaneDitka, keep the political swipes out of this thread. That goes for everyone.

I’m not going through this with every current events thread- I will start issuing warnings if people can’t keep political stuff out of current events threads like this.

Thank you. It would be nice if we ever just had a moment to care about what’s going on at the time first.

35 posts and no one mentioned the most important fact!!!
Ohio State football players safe, accounted for after on-campus attack

It’s pretty obvious actually.

It’s a priority checklist to save your hide.

Everyone has their niche.

I guess the school’s leftover Turkey and dressing didn’t agree with him? Many thanks to the officer that stopped this monster.

Very glad the situation is now secure with minimum injuries. 9 hurt and one critical. It could have been so much worse.

If my post about Yahoo News was political, then I’m sorry.

At the time, I didn’t know this was a knife attack, I have my own kid in college (granted a different college) and just seeing the second listed under this story being a business article on “best handguns 2016” (just in time for Xmas?) really seemed inappropriate.

If I’ve shown bad judgement in expressing that feeling, then I’m sorry.
