As soon as I saw the headline I was reminded of John Crawford’s unnecessary death, so yeah, I’d also prefer if no one got shot here.

Walmart checks for a license when open carrying.

At Walmart, the official company policy regarding open carry is that customers are allowed to bring visible handguns into the store, but that store staff are responsible for verifying that the customer has a proper license for the weapon.

ETA: Liquor license at jeopardy.

The duty will be limited to managers of Walmart stores that sell alcohol in order to comply with Texas liquor rules prohibiting unlicensed handguns in establishments that sell alchohol to be consumed offsite. An infraction can cost a retailer its liquor license.

The car is registered to a Somali immigrant (of which there is a community in Amarillo), reportedly employed there. If in fact he is the shooter, then we can have another debate as to whether his motivation was workplace-related, religiously inspired, or some mix thereof.

Reports are saying that an abandoned car was found outside with an empty holster in it. The car is registered to a Somali immigrant (of which there is a community in Amarillo), reportedly employed there. If in fact he is the shooter, then we can have another debate as to whether his motivation was workplace-related, religiously inspired, or some mix thereof.

Amarillo police identified the suspect as 54-year-old store employee Mohammad Moghaddam and said neither hostage was injured. Police said the incident began over a dispute related to a promotion and called the incident a “workplace violence event,” adding that investigators had no reason to believe it was tied to terrorism.

It’s Texas culture. If you have to buy a gun to shoot somebody in a situation like this, it shows everyone you didn’t bring a gun with you. It’s considered unmanly (even for the women).

Ok, I take it back. But as long as they all hustled their asses out of the store so nobody died catching stray rounds, I guess its the best that I can hope for.

Because it WALMART. There isn’t One Damn Thing in that store worth dying over, people.
