Hated Leonardo DiCaprio in everything he did before Gangs of New York. I’ve liked him well enough since.
Rowan Atkinson
I can watch Blackadder over and over. Always witty.
Mr. Bean makes my skin crawl.
I thought he was outstanding in The Royal Tenenbaums…
John Noble, who I usually think is better that the rest of the cast. Was great in the early Sleepy Hollow episodes before he was revealed as the evil warlock, son of what’s his name (didn’t inherit his dad’s stick, or anything else really. Maybe the father wasn’t who we qere told after all)? It’s not his fault, the writers seemed to be losing their minds in general.
He was pretty good in Elementary too. ( Irrelevantly, he’s the only actor I’ve ever seen on TV who would eat on camera. Doing his best Denethor act, I think)
Will Ferrell. I can’t stand his early movies, but he seems to have gotten better. The Other Guys was very good.
Adam Sandler was good in Pixels, but so far I haven’t seen anything else that was any good. I’m tempted to watch Punch Drunk Love, I’ve heard so many good things about it.
As long as we’re throwing props at Adam Sandler - I found Reign Over Me to be excellent. Not a hint of his man-child act, and of course Don Cheadle is always good.
The rest of his oevure - not so much.
Holly Hunter is the first that comes to mind. Loved her in “Always”, but thought she really overblew the part in “The Firm” – the weakest member of the cast…
Peter Bogdanovich…the great director
Great in The Sopranos
Horrible as a Hugh Hefner like character in Law and Order Criminal Intent
I remember seeing that a while back, but it didn’t make much of an impression on me.
Hated: Sarah Chalke on Roseanne
Loved: Sarah Chalke on Scrubs
John Cusack, who I love in pretty much everything he has done, except The Paperboy.
Not because he wasn’t effective, but he was SO effective, it was just gross.
Ashley Johnson. She has popped up in various Joss Whedon productions and whenever I would see her I would wonder why he kept casting this annoying chick.
Then we get to Blindspot, which is the opposite of a Joss Whedon production in almost every way and she’s playing the tech girl, Patterson. She’s smart, snarky and can kick ass right alongside the boys when the occasion calls for it. She’s my favorite character on that show.
She was just wrong for the part of that shrewish, spoiled-rotten Becky (no offense to Lecy Goranson).
Neil Flynn–despised his character on Scrubs, he’s outstanding on The Middle. He must be talented, or something.
Quite agree, however…
I know I will be completely alone in this but I cannot stand Leonardo DiCaprio in anything but Titanic. In my opinion it is his only role that feels honest and doesn’t feel as if he’s “acting” at all (However I didn’t watch his much older films).
One could be excused for thinking that Natalie Portman was an awful actress after seeing the lamentable Star Wars prequels. She’s great in most of the rest.
Going by your own link, unless I’m missing something, I see her with bit parts in Avengers and Dollhouse. Wow you must have hated her a lot for such a small offering out of a fairly large resume to connect her to Joss for you.
Granted, I didn’t particularly care for her in Growing Pains either, but she was like 5 so I’ma cut her a little slack.
She was also in Joss’ 2012 adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing. I’m not sure why I disliked her so much. In Dollhouse she was a random murder victim with about five minutes of screen time (although on further research I see she was also in the unaired pilot as well). However, I do recall specifically hating that fawning waitress in The Avengers. No matter, she’s made up for it now.
