Addendum on Time Square Bombing

I wondered if someone would pick up on this!

Other than that, this thread is just a joke (in a different way than the quote above).

Ask your mom. I was right about the amount of flour necessary to find her vag (20 pounds, by the way).

So tell me, in conservativeville is that considered edgy?

Naw. Conservativeville is all about Rich Little and that’s certainly not one of his jokes. Rand’s wrong about that too.

So your entire rant is based on “guessing” what the mayor was “thinking”? Well done, take a seat next to Rand Rover and Starving Artist on a wacko bus to crazytown.

No, I think it’s considered floury.

Anyway, regarding the OP’s silly rant, I had asked: “instead of rushing to judgement that the bomber might have been a nutbag of just about any persuasion, the press should have just rushed to judgement that he was a jihadist, have I got that about right?”

Curtis later came back with this:

So:

a) I’m a little unclear on how saying that the bomber might have been just about anyone would not in fact be more openminded than just assuming he was automatically a jihadist; b) assuming the bomber were a jihadist before anyone had information on his identity and ethnicity would indeed be jumping to conclusions, no?

I too am baffled as to Curtis’s point, other than that he was just taking a rather sloppy shot at whatever it is he defines as ‘liberals’.

Indictment pending.

I can’t even tell you how happy it makes me that you plan to stay far away.

I’d like to mention that I hope whoever taught Mr. Shahzad to build bombs is not only not arrested, but has signposts placed around his residence by the CIA: “Bombing America taught here! Bring your own firecrackers.” Hell, we do more damage to the country on the 4th of July.

Which one has the epic beard?

One of the side benefits of being a melting pot for cultures from all over the world. Where ever you come from, who ever you hate, you can find some of them here.

And I have to agree, I didn’t hear bout it being Tea Baggers until this thread. The dud of a bomb pointed away from Al Queda or the Taliban for me, but the white guy as a suspect wasn’t a point either way. When you have people like Jihad Jane running around, skin color means nothing about motives. (Well, okay, you won’t find too many Latinos or African-Americans in the KKK, but mostly it is true.)

I didn’t want this shit ruining my honeymoon, so I pulled strings.

Not me. I might have “old man strength”, but no beard.

No if you actually read that thread then you are lying. ONE person, the one person you quoted, said that and was immediately slammed for it. You know it was one person because you were right there jumping on Frostillicious as soon as it was posted.

Why would you lie about something so easy to check? You’re a smart guy. Why add extra bullshit to an already serious matter? Someone was able to plant a bomb, shitty or not, in Times Square, and he was able to set it off, even if it was poorly made. It’s pure dumb luck that nobody was injured. And here you are using this crap for more political bullshit. BOTH of you are. I’m so sick of this garbage. Don’t you have any dignity at all?

I don’t think so either, and I never said he did. I said he BLAMED the incident on liberals. I don’t think anyone said Glenn Beck set the fucking bomb off in Times Square either did I?

Awesome answer. Kudos on proving yourself more of a child than Curtis.

I read that thread again and you are right, one guy says “right-winger.” Several other folks said “lone nut-job” or something like that, which I interpreted coming from typical SDMB members to mean “right-winger,” but on second look that was stupid of me.

No, I think on reflection is shows that the term “right winger” refers now both to those on the conservative side of the spectrum as well as those that are radically anti-government. With the more vocal members of the Tea Party showing themselves to be radically anti-government.

There was a time when terrorist acts were committed by radical left wingers (think attacking animal research facilities).

In the wake of the health care bill, there was a string of violent acts perpetrated by radical right-wingers (shooting at Democrat offices). And then there was the anti-government murder of a police officer.

Without being able to prove it, I feel like there are members of the conservative side that would have also wondered if it was a) domestic terrorists, and b) anti-government activists. Obviously a cable news network linked with the Tea Party isn’t going to come out right away and blame Tea Party activists. But at any point did anyone on Fox News suspect this was home-grown?

So to the conservative members on this board, who did you first suspect was responsible? Foreign or domestic? Left or right-wing?

History did not begin in 1993.
