Addicted to 10000000

Is it just me or is this an unputdownable game?

For those of you who haven’t heard of this, 10000000 (would it have killed them to put in some commas?) is an iOs game that combines your standard match-three game with an infinite run-and-fight scroller using deliberately crappy 8-bit graphics. You wake up trapped in a dungeon and have to earn 10million points in one run to escape, but you can upgrade your skills and equipment as you go and level up in order to face harder (but more rewarding) monsters. You interact via the match-three grid; you fight by matching swords or staffs or shields; you can also earn wood and stone to upgrade the dungeon, keys to open chests and doors, and items to help you. As always you’re trying the beat the clock: the faster you fight or open chests and doors the better off you are, getting hit by monsters costs time, but beating them gains you some back.

It’s a remarkably clever game for its simplicity. I ended up playing it until 3am on Saturday because I couldn’t stop. It took me about 6 hours of game play to hit the 10 million mark and escape, but it was definitely worth to £1.49 I paid for it.

So - any other fans and/or critics?

I quite liked it and thought it was a great investment for the price. But I did put it down. After I reached 10000000.

Who makes it? the only 10000000 I can find looks like dungeons and castles…

It is a dungeon setting. The match-three stuff is how you make your little adventurer go. And the link above is to the game company site, Eighty Eight Games.

It’s on Steam, too.

Well I’m still playing the damn thing. Current high score: 15.9 million. Wahey!
