Adjustable Bed recommendations & advice?

I need to sleep with my head elevated due to issues with my esophagus, and a wedge pillow isn’t working out too well. I’m considering getting an adjustable bed. Do you have any experience to share, advice on brands to get or avoid, what features are essential, etc?

In my case, my wife and I probably won’t want the same adjustment angle, so we’d probably replace our king size bed with a split king or two Twin XL adjustable beds. (I assume there’s really no difference between buying a “split king” frame vs. two Twin-XL frames?)

I don’t own an adjustable bed, but when I bought my queen they tried to sell me a 2k adjustable bed frame. But from what I saw online a manually adjustable bed frame was only $200 or so. I didn’t see the benefit of buying the one they tried to upsell me.

You can rent adjustable beds from hospital supply places. It might be worth checking out if it suits you, before you buy.

Good Luck!

For what it’s worth Sleep Like the Dead rates the Beautyrest Smart Motion 3.0 and a couple of others as highest in customer satisfaction. Note that this is only rating the adjustable base, not the mattress. But most of them are rated in the 90s, so it comes down to the specific details.
