He’s always surrounded by bimbos, but hasn’t it also been implied that he has been both in and out of matrimony?
I don’t recall their mentioning Manjoula by name but I’m almost positive that they said in the immigration episode that the couple were married, not engaged or otherwise simply set to be married. If that’s the case then it’s still at least a partial retcon since they obviously weren’t married in the marriage episode.
Was his child-bride actually a child in that episode? Because Apu and Manjula are meant to be around the same age (from “The Two Mrs. Nahasapeemapetilons” onward).
The episode summaries I’ve read don’t settle this point, but I remember Apu saying goodbye to her and saying something like “Farewell, Manjula, I’m sorry our arranged marriage will not happen.” They do seem closer in age when they’re finally married - yes, Zoggie, she was actually a child - but I don’t think they changed anything else.
There were also a few early episodes where Apu was seen with Princess Cashmire. It was implied that they done it.
Abe’s age is no longer as hidden as it once was. In an episode aired in early 2006, it was disclosed he’s 83. That means Abe was already well into his 40’s by the time Homer was born.
As for Mona, the impression given is that she’s considerably younger than Abe. Most likely she married him long after the end of WWII so Abe had plenty of free time as a bachelor.
(Of course, this being The Simpsons, the writers will no doubt later alter the backstory of the characters just to screw with the heads of the more anal retentive fans who nitpick over the show’s continuity.)
Whoosh!
You’re a gutsy daredevil with a give-em-hell attitude and a fourth-grade education. You coulda made sergeant!
I think they both were children.
No, I meant in the episode where Apu is having a flashback to saying goodbye to her. He’s an adult when he leaves his childbride, but they’re both about the same age.
I just saw that episode tonight. When Abe tells the story, he’s “courting” Homer’s mother when he meets the female carny (carna?). A year later, she comes back to town with their illegitimate newborn, who is promptly bundled off to Shelbyville Orphanage. The next year, Abe and Mona (though she wasn’t named in this episode) marry and when Mona is in a hospital bed holding the newborn Homer, swears Abe to secrecy. This suggests Abe’s dalliance was about two years before his marriage.
Troy McLure was married to one of Marge’s sisters, but he was adulterous with fish(?) or something very odd.
Comicbook Store Guy was doing Principal Skinner’s mom in one episode. Wasn’t really adultery… just creepy.
Ms. Crabapple MUST have been adulterous once… right?*
She’s a slut… BUNG!
In “26 Short Films About Springfield,” doesn’t Apu get it on with some woman in the pool shed at a party (“Don’t worry, I’ll tell everyone you were untouchable!”) That was after he married Manjula.
Granted, he was only in there for a few seconds, but that was the point of the whole film.
Actually, “22 Short Films About Springfield” is from season 7, while Apu got married in “The Two Mrs. Nahasapeemapetilons” from season 9.
It was that old? Huh, guess I’ve been out of the loop longer than I thought.
Damn, I don’t remember that joke at all. :smack:
Bryan Ekers:
I stand corrected, thanks.
