Advanced Search on my User Name

I recently discovered that if I double click in Advanced Search on the User Name field my old user name grienspace shows up on a drop down screen.I then click on grienspace and it pops into the user name field.

Since I always use this particular search on my user name to check if any response is required resulting from my previous posting, is their any chance this can be corrected from grienspace to The Flying Dutchman ? I sure would like to avoid typing out my user name each time I go back to the SDMB.

Open advanced search. Open the user name drop down menu. Highlight grienspace. Press the delete key on your keyboard. **grienspace ** should disappear. Now type in The Flying Dutchman and do a search for all posts. That should set **TFD ** in the user name drop down menu.

Well I did just what you suggested including the final search, but I have lost the user name drop down menu.

It sounds like a browser feature where it recalls what you typed in a particular field and offers that input again to save you time. Otherwise, the user name field in Advanced Search is a plain old text box; it doesn’t have a drop-down menu. What browser and version are you using?

In Firefox 3, for example, go to Tools | Options | Privacy and uncheck “Remember what I enter in forms and the search bar”.

In Internet Explorer 7, go to the Tools menu, and click on Internet Options. Select the Content tab, then select the Auto Complete Setting button. Make sure Forms, and Usernames and Passwords is checked . Click OK.

All I know is that I’m using Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Okay guys thanx, but this is a little too muh for me to handle. I’ll wait till my daughter has a chance to process the advice
