Advantage flea protection vs. Generic Brands

My mom wanted to know whether the generic stuff that can be bought at Wal Mart will do the same thing as Advantage. We have kitties if this will help. Can anyone help? Thanks!

As a vet tech I cannot recommend anything that is sold over the counter. I have seen countless animals with toxic reactions to that stuff. Spend the extra money to get what your vet sells (Advantage, Frontline, and the like). It’ll save you money in the long run, because you won’t have to bring your cat to the emergency clinic.

If you decide to buy the cheap stuff anyway, NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER put anything on your cat that is marked “for dogs ONLY.” I don’t care if you only want to use one drop. I don’t care if you want to put the puppy stuff on the cat. DON’T DO IT.
