The “join and see no ads” thing is no longer a thing.
Now it’s “join for the good of the collective.”
Was that announced somewhere? (I skimmed this thread and looked for obvious threads on this topic but wasn’t very thorough)
Eh? I don’t know where you are getting that from, but it’s wrong.
You can’t join. Period.
The subscription system from vBulletin did not port over to Discourse. TubaDiva was investigating some sort of replacement before she passed, but nothing had been decided. I know that our admin and our owners are aware of the situation and this is on the list of things that need to be fixed around here.
Unfortunately, that is all the information we have at the moment.

I joined. I payed my membership fee. I haven’t received a refund. Therefore, I consider myself a member.

Pretty sure that’s meant to be parsed as “No new subscriptions can be processed at this time.”
I hope that gets sorted by May, 2022, when my current subscription expires.
