Be careful that you don’t under-value any of the records. I’ve seen some classic vintage vinyl in mint condition going for $200+. I think it’s ridiculous, personally, but it’s a strange marketplace.
Thanks - I hear you.
That is certainly something to be aware of. I think I may scope out the local record store and do a check on their prices. Maybe pick up some new inner sleeves as well just to make the more valuable records look all snug and cared for. One hopes that if I go in with knowledge, the store will not try to lowball me. I don’t mind them making a profit, but I don’t want to sell them an album for $10, and have them flip it for $200. That is just not fair.
I’m checking out all of mine on ebay (sold) and Discogs… making sure to note the condition and album number for valid comparisons (eg. some are still in shrink wrap, played little and are “first pressings”, not reissues)
Eg. Queen “Night at the Opera”
My copy is 7ES 1053 (1975, 1st Canadian pressing). Condition VG+ for vinyl and cover. Lowest price on this from Discogs is $10 + $15 shipping (in “Good” condition with scratches)
For this album, the EMI pressing from UK is more sought after. That could be $250+ in mint condition.
