Best wishes for Aesiron for a speedy recovery that’s as pain-free as possible!
Hope you’re better soon, Aes, and in the meantime they’re giving you many wonderful narcotics.
Damn. Hope those bones of yours knit quickly and painlessly.
Aesiron , we’ll all be here patiently doing shots for your speedy recovery!
No, no, no – please do not try to thank us – it is the very least we can do!
*The secret to recovery lies in doing everything your nurse tells you to do *
Okay, so I guess this proves a Ford Destroyer can beat the Starship Aesiron, right?
Take care, get well soon, and look into building a mechanized exoskeleton for the next time.
btw, your work at NIFSTD is really piling up on ya.
And no, I’m pretty sure it’s ice cream you get to eat, not tonsils.
Wait, I may have misread something…
Mmmm, nothin’ like a big bowl’a tonsils. Eeechhh.
Get better soon, Aesiron.
Why not have some Dopers get together to send him some Giant Microbes ?
Personally, if I had a broken leg or two, having a nice ebola virus to cuddle would cheer me up.
(Yes, I’m sick and twisted, but when someone pointed out this company to me, all I could think of was that it would be perfect for Aesiron, anyways…)
Ouch! That almost happened to me once and I was shaking for hours. Please send an address to me, as well.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
MsRobyn, I actually have a T-shirt that bears the image of Cutter John and the full crew of the Starship Enterpoop. It was my dad’s and he gave it to me years ago. I haven’t worn it in forever … maybe it’s time to pass it along!
I talked to aes again this morning. He came through his surgery fine and says his leg is feeling a lot better this morning. He’s even been up and about with a walker.
If you want to send him a card at the hospital, he said I could post his info on the board, but warns that he still doesn’t know how long he’s actually be there. When he gets to the point that he doesn’t need the morphine drip anymore, they’ll send him home. But here’s the hospital’s address:
Robert Deaver
Salem Hospital
665 Winter St SE Rm 6619
Salem OR 97302
If you want his home address to make sure the card gets to him, email me (it’s in my profile).
Again, he’s really touched by the outpouring of well-wishes. We’ve finally learned the secret to having a popular thread on the SDMB, and it only took a near-death experience to do it!
I’m glad to hear he is doing well.
Hugs for Aesiron
I’m glad it wasn’t worse then it was. When my brother was hit by a car he was in the ICU for a few weeks. (He’s fine now though.)
I talked to him around 10 his time this morning.
He seemed okay, if a little down. I think he needs some care packages.
I like the microbes (I have the beer yeast one) idea, and lots of books to read.
I’m writing him a letter tonight so he’ll have stuff to read.
Feel better, Robert.
The button you push on the drip?
Chewing gum.
Guys, seriously, let’s get him the Giant Microbes!
We visited Aesiron in the hospital this evening. He said his leg doesn’t hurt too much, and he’s able to get around a bit with a walker. A nurse told him he may be released tomorrow, but seeing as how he hasn’t even talked to his surgeon yet we don’t know how much weight to give the nurse’s opinion. All things considered, he’s doing pretty well. I’m worried about him, though. Who’s going to take care of my care-taker?
He was real surprised at the big handful of print-outs I gave him, though! Thank you again for your warm thoughts, I know he appreciates them.
(x-posted everywhere)
Glad to hear Aes is feeling better. Perhaps we can help with some of the boredom. Does he have a portable CD player? If he does, I’ll send him a wallet full of interesting CDs. And if he doesn’t, I may be able to help with that, too.
And how about scotch eggs? Do you suppose they would be theraputic in his case?
Take care, both of you.

I think this is a sure sign that no matter what he believes, Aesiron does not have any ESP ability.
d&r
I was wondering about this myself. Are any of his family able to fly out and stay with him for a while? I know if I were in Aesiron’s shoes (or cast) I’d be pretty bummed out if I couldn’t have my family around. Are you going to be ok, Kat? I wish I lived in your neck of the woods so I could help you both out.
Yeah, I was wondering who’s going to take care of both of them, too! Unfortunately, I’m all the way the hell on the other side of the Country, so I’m not gonna be any help.
