I’m interested in rereading, in English, the classic fables attributed to Aesop.
Is there a canonical collection of fables, or are there some that are included by some compilers and excluded by others?
And perhaps more importantly, is there a generally accepted best translation of the fables?
I’m just bumping this back up, like a crow adding pebbles to a pitcher of water with a level too low to drink.

Looks like you’re going to have to hit your local library, my friend. There is an apparent shortage of Aesop scholars on the SDMB.

Here’s a link Aesop’s Fables - Online Collection. Answers to your questions are section ones preface. Well at least something to get you started with.
Thanks for the link. I’d seen the site, but overlooked that preface.
