Again with the annoying commercials!

Too squicked by the feet-for-hands.

The two cars looked identical to me. Just another in a long series of commercials where manufacturers try to convince us that their car is unique and distinctive when the truth is that they all look like giant silver cough drop lozenges.

The kind where you can pay someone to do them for you. So, our world, but where you have money.

Like Finagle says, it’s not like the Audi is particularly stand out in appearance. The Batmobile* would be pretty eye-catching. A black SUV is just one more car on the road.

  • Any version. They all stand out.

This new Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning commercial seems to be a BFD.

No, it’s a POS.

If I can remember from the last time I picked up a bottle of the stuff (1993 or so), that BFD in the HVR is mainly from MSG.

Yah, my friend’s black KIA SUV looks pretty much like my BMW X3, except she put really large pink eyelashes on the front. I believe these are illegal on a BMW (LOL)*

*Sorry for LOL, the Dope emoji menu doesn’t work on my phone
:sunglasses: maybe my indy smiley is visible?

Note that MSG is harmless. No, you dont get headaches from it.

Yeah, most people can eat the stuff with no problem, but my mother experiences nausea and raging headaches from it. Many visits to doctors ruled out other medical issues, and a well-kept food journal revealed it to be the only consistent link. shrug I’m not on any campaign to have it banned or anything like that, but I do take note of it when it pops up in a list of ingredients.

Okay, so a guy locks himself out of his SUV, so he calls his wife to have her use BlueLink to open the car doors. Except his wife is an astronaut currently on a spacewalk doing repairs on the International Space Station.

UUUUGGGGHHHH!!! Okay, we can mention the unlikelihood of her being able to take her own personal cell phone into space with her. But then she manages to take her phone out into space on the spacewalk! :smack: It’s an untethered free-floating object just waiting to get “dropped” and become a space hazard. Uh, no.

Okay, but here’s the real kicker - why does he have to call his wife to have her call BlueLink? He has his phone, why can’t he BlueLink himself? Okay, maybe he doesn’t have the app on his phone because …

Why would a dog chant the name of his flea medication while bringing “presents” to his masters?

That nasty foot-hands commercial is still going strong. XP

Sanderson Farms is now bragging about the high protein diet being fed to their chickens. The ad itself isn’t terribly annoying, but based on their vocal “yay antibiotics!” stance, I can only guess as to where they’re getting that protein.

MSG isn’t harmless for everyone. It gives me migraines.

Probably not. Either you think it does, so it does, or there’s something else in foods that are thought to contain MSG that gives you the headaches:

Implications for practice: Despite a widespread belief that MSG can elicit a headache, among other symptoms, there are no consistent clinical data to support this claim. Findings from the literature indicate that there is no consistent evidence to suggest that individuals may be uniquely sensitive to MSG. Nurse practitioners should therefore concentrate their efforts on advising patients of the nutritional pitfalls of some Chinese restaurant meals and to seek more consistently documented etiologies for symptoms such as headache, xerostomia, or flushing.

I hate the Kia commercial with the smug little girl who has a really annoying head voice.

I hated the Kia Christmas commercial (for 2 years now) that made the Carol of the Bells sound like an army was attacking.

I can think of several things I would like to do to their advertising agency, if I could find out who it is.

The jury is arguably out as far as convincing scientific evidence goes.

Still, I’d hesitate to be dogmatic about whether MSG triggers migraines in some people (my mother, a physician was convinced this was true, in her case at least), seeing that there seem to be a nearly infinite number of things that act as triggers in certain folks.

If it’s this one, you’re looking for Initiative (Agency), David&Goliath (Creative Agency).

If you hated the Kia Christmas commercial, you’ll absolutely loathe this. I kinda like the arrangement. The over-the-top show, not so much.

what is “this” No link?

There seems to be a wave of commercials lately where various companies apologize for being assholes:

Wells Fargo

Uber

Facebook

“We are actually really great folks, folks. Yeah, we had our heads turned by greed a little bit, but we’re all better now and we promise not to screw you over ever again. Really. We good?”
