Again with the annoying commercials!

I actually like those.

Who’s ready to cha-cha?

And a sub-Reddit or four:

A minor one that over time has annoyed the hell out of me. A Popeye’s ad, never seen but just heard.

Some of my friends are the type that always have to have a ( blaring ) TV on at their house as background noise, and always tuned to sports programming, which guarantees the ads being even more inane and irksome than is usual…and the same ads over and over and over, mostly fast food. At the end of each Popeye’s there’s a short jingle sung in the most irritating discordant voice.

Anyway, rant over.

Minor nit: Those commercial for FreshPet Dog Food, which needs to be refrigerated. Someone (mother, girlfriend etc) goes into the dog owner’s refrigerator for some reason and sees “pet food” in there and acts like this is somehow objectionable: “You keep pet food in the refrigerator?”. Next scene is the person being ejected for this. Tagline, either as a voice-over or spoken by the dog owner. “It’s not pet food. It’s FreshPet.”

No, it IS pet food. It’s just pet food that needs to be refrigerated to be kept edible.

(As a side note, apparently FreshPet is only for dogs. There is no cat version which, considering how more finicky cats are perceived than dogs, means they’re missing a great set of marketing options.)

I think I’ve made this same argument before. Both of them are wrong and stupid but the one who (always a female, no?) doesn’t like the food in the fridge is wrong, stupid AND annoying. The one with the in-law(s), though–is it worth losing the spouse over kicking them out? I think, yes.

There is one where the person who finds the dog food in the fridge is a guy, who is getting ready to watch some sports thing and goes to get a beer. Mildly amusing in that it looks like they’re in the dog owner’s mancave/garage.

Is it a law that says all pickup truck commercial voice overs have to be in a cowboy drawl? It’s as annoying as vocal fry.

It must be an actual law for the level of compliance we see.

Not just trucks, but bbq restaurants and manly men’s underwear. To me it’s even more annoying than vocal fry due to the products being sold; like a double shot of masculine toxicity.

And tars for the trucks.

Googling, they have cat food as well, though apparently no commercials in which the pet owner throws someone out for objecting to putting cat food in the refrigerator.

Good, because I often cover a partly-served can of cat food and put in the fridge, and anybody who doesn’t like how I do things in my own house is cordially invited to GTFO.

No, there is an old ETrade commercial that recently resurfaced, and is as annoying now as it was the first time.

I don’t need babies who are “single and ready to mingle”.

It is if it’s the Chevy Texas Edition.

I can’t understand how ecstatic people are about crappy tea in this commercial.

I meant the one from this year

not last year.

Same here. I only have one cat (not counting the stray I feed on my deck) and in the morning I open a can and put 1/3 of it in each of two bowls, one of which goes out on the deck and the other on the kitchen floor. Then I put a lid on the can and put it in the fridge, then feed that to my cat in the evening; the outdoor cat is on his own at night, because if I leave food on the deck at night the odds are a raccoon will get it.

Oh, yeah.

Apparently an exception can be made if you can get that lady who sings about her heart being like a truck (“like a truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck”). I’m gonna save your eardrums and not link to it, but I’m pretty sure it’s an actual song called “Heart Like a Truck,” and that it was used in Dodge Ram commercials.

It’s an annoying commercial, but I’ve been drinking Constant Comment since I was 12! I love Bigelow teas!

Let them know; perhaps they could feature you going gaga over their tea in their next commercial.
