Weird-o!
Technically, they’re seeing a famous-ish comedian that looks a lot like themselves making betting suggestions.
I kind of liked it the first few times I saw them, but you sure don’t have to like what I like.
Well yeah, maybe the first time or two. After about the hundredth time I’m like, “This guy needs professional help.”
Two years later than my comment??
Yep. I guess the ones on TV are no longer working well enough so now they’re on computers, too.
Still scammy and ridiculous, but there’s a version of the ad with men wearing the idiotic mask.
All those campaign ads, whether on TV or online.
37 or 38 days as I write this, depending on your time zone.
Is this the same “technology” as the ballcaps with LED lights in the that supposedly promotes hair growth? Those ads were running some years back and I thought it was hokey even then. But as long as this thread is, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone mentioned them a few thousand posts ago.
This Siri commercial runs constantly.
It’s so pervy with a actress that looks like she’s in high school and some old guy with a receding hairline.
Except there’s nothing pervy or romantic about it. The meeting reminder says “Production catch up”.
I didn’t see a reminder.
She was asking Siri who’s that guy I met at Cafe Grenal a couple months ago.
My hearing isn’t very good anymore. I may have missed a word or two. She was whispering.
I wish Sling TV would bring back Danny Trejo. He didn’t quite enunciate properly but at least he’s not weird!
The actress is Bella Ramsey. She’s 21, though she does look young. It’s why she was cast as a 14 year old in “The Last of Us”.
The commercial takes place at some kind of party with a bunch of 20-somethings.
When she asks Siri to remind her who he is, the screen pops up a meeting reminder that says “Production Catch Up”. That’s the meeting where they met that they both refer to.
Zac could be late 20s. Some guys start losing hair by then.
He’s at a party, sees her, and comes over to say hi. She’s at a party, sees him, and immediately wants to seem like she remembers him. Seems a bit flirty.
It’s only creepy because you project her age downward and his upward.
I thought a good use for that mask was to make your kids run screaming when you want to use the phone, go to the bathroom, have a moment to youself. You know the stuff kids of a certain age don’t want you to do. I know I’d be freaked if I walked in and someone was wearing that creepy thing.
She is back with another ad, where she meets with some woman, and extremely rudely has not bothered to read the email about the meeting, so she clicks some app that summarizes it for her, then lies her way thru the meeting. I dont know why they think that is a good thing. There is just something uncanny valley about her. I dunno. Maybe I am just too old to understand this young folk stuff.
Since I respect Sam, I’m going to report that I’ve seen the long form of the commercial (for the record, since there are at least two, it’s the one where Gronk is playing at being a director) and it actually works (you know, for a USAA ad with Gronk in it). The problem appears to be when they edited it down to a 30 second spot.
The problem is how Sam emphasizes the sentence. “I’m already IN.” Should be in already.
I agree. It’s supposed to be cute, with the catch phrase “I am genius.” Rubs me wrong too.
That first commercial she says she recognizes him and says some weird statement about, “That’s Zac. Nobody looks like Zac.” While smugly hamming at the camera.
I guess I get the desire to seem like you read the script or remember some person you want to flirt with, but it’s not executed well.
Yeah, I noticed it in “The Last of Us”, but it’s extra noticeable in these commercials. I’ve pointed out there’s something about her hairline and the impression she has no eyebrows, but that’s my take.
I remember buying Borland’s Sidekick for Win95. It was my first Appointment scheduler.
Sidekick was a big seller. Had a appointment calendar, calculator, contacts etc. Microsoft took Sidekick’s best ideas and released it in Win98.
I haven’t seen much advancement with Siri. Except for the Voice interface.
That Siri commercial with Zac is unnerving. I don’t want my phone tracking my interactions.
It’s creepy enough that everything I do on the web gets tracked.
Now my interactions with people at meetings are tracked? Nope,Nope.
I saw that commercial recently (hadn’t seen the Zack one until this thread) and got the impression that she was supposed to be an actress meeting with her agent. And given that her Zack reminder says “production meeting,” perhaps she’s playing herself in these commercials?
If you are using your phone calendar, your meetings are being tracked. You are tracking them yourself to keep up with them so you don’t miss them and can remember later when your appointment actually was. Apple Intelligence just looked at her calendar and pulled up the meeting she asked about. Nothing creepy about looking in your own calendar to remember when you had a meeting and who it was with.
It’s not like someone else can ask AI who you meet with and get that information.
