Sure, the ingredients, but the “left over stuff” is the critical part.
What do you think they put in the Farmer’s Dog food? They might say they add “whole, human-grade meat” on the website, but they ain’t putting prime cuts of ribeye and filet mignon in there.
No, but see on the farm, the left over stuff- and this is CRITICAL- is FREE!
Feeding a medium dog on that stuff is something like $180 a month, on kibble it is $50 for the better stuff.
“The nutritional profile of the Farmer’s Dog really is “better” than some pet foods, but it is also worse than others….3.) The Farmer’s Dog only uses what it calls “real ingredients” in its products.
This last one is really just an attempt at trickery.
Under the relevant pet food labeling laws, what ingredients constitute “real” ingredients? All of them. In other words, claiming that all the ingredients in your pet food are “real” is literally a meaningless statement.”
So better than cheap kibble, no doubt
So, no- Farmers would never buy that stuff.
Well, you’re changing your argument here. You said “real Farmers dogs dont get special food like that- on our family farm up North, they got table scraps and left over stuff from butchering”. I said, well, that sounds pretty much like what they put in Farmer’s Dog food. It’s not any more special than what you guys gave your dogs on your farm. It was a quality comparison, not a price comparison.
Of course they oversell and overcharge for their product, compared to what you could give your dog in the way of table scraps and butcher leftovers.
No, but you could make a dead deer.
If I see that kitchen remodeling commercial one more time I’m going to scream and throw something at the TV
The one thing I find amusing about all these DealDash commercials is the repeated use of the same people; that guy with his red mixer, for example. They never won anything else, right?
Still better than Fresh Pet’s “food food” commercials.
OK, here’s a whole category of annoying ads: Ads for the thing that you just bought that you’re only going to need one of in your whole life. I mean, yeah, I showed a real, definite interest… showed. Past tense. I don’t need another one.
Oh, my bad, I mixed the two up when i was saying
That was the cute Fresh Pets ‘food food “ one- the rest are drek.
We asked out vet what we should feed our dog - spousal unit was looking at Farmer’s Dog. Vet said she fed her dogs Purina One. End of discussion.
As for the thread topic - people getting upset about dog food being in the fridge? Really?
It’s the same people who make rude remarks about breastmilk or insulin being in the fridge.
I’ve heard of people making remarks about insulin and breastmilk being in the fridge - but the instances I’ve heard of involve communal fridges, like in offices. Not the diabetic’s mother complaining that the diabetic keeps insulin in her own fridge.
Apparently, my paternal grandmother (not the most pleasant or likeable person to begin with) gave my mother a lot of hassle about washing stainless steel dog dishes in the dishwasher along with human dishes.
Yeah, but some people do- more or less the people who snoop in the fridge after only getting the okay to grab a beer or a soda.
Yep.
We may have a long-lost relative. My paternal grandfather once witnessed my dad place a pan of beef drippings on the floor for our dog to lick the goodness out of. Grandfather never ate anything that was cooked in that pan ever again.
Don’t be so sure about that.
Mothers can be quite judgemental about their kids fridges.
No, NOT really. It’s just fiction for the sake of a stupid commercial.
I’d bet a lot of money that no one at the ad agency that came up with that ever said “Well, y’know… I keep dog food in my fridge, and my girlfriend who hates dogs thought that was disgusting, so I dumped her… why don’t we do an ad about that?”
I used to work at one of those agencies, and people came up with the most unbelievable situations* in hopes of selling something.
.
*And catchphrases that NO ONE would ever ever say: "Are you 4-IMPRINT certain?"
My family used to occasionally keep cat food in the fridge and the only complaint I heard about the practice is that cats can’t smell their food when it’s cold and are thus less likely to eat it.
My own experience supports that cats aren’t as inclined to eat their food cold. They do show more interest once it comes up to room temp, though.
What does it cost to run these shitty little commercials on YouTube? Some grinning monkey keeps trying to sell me a power saving devise that all his friends laughed at him for buying. I don’t do anything about it, except hit skip.
