the edgelord Hasbro game commercials… where the point of monopoly is "teach them to use fake money before they get ahold of yours " and operation: doctors make a lot of money with a lot of both kinds of patience and patients … both are said in the most condescending and snotty way possible
Ghastly. Stunning to look at as it should be, but a really lame attempt to attract the spawn of the 1%…and what is that ‘song’? sounds like some guys with constipation, sitting in a bathroom.
It really does! ![]()
First time I’ve seen that commercial, and for some reason I now have a strong desire to go find my sledgehammer.
What did I just watch?
Perfume commercials in general drive me crazy. I get that it’s hard to sell a smell so you have to be creative but I don’t know which is worse, the impossibly beautiful people in improbable clothes whispering random nonsense, or the soft porn that makes even hunky nearly naked men annoying.
For the sake of future searchability, that’s Anna Kendrick.
poshmark commercials where sellers are bragging how there somewhat used designer clothes netted them 10,000 dollars!
but they never mention they probably spent 3-4 times that amount …
the libre one is this years award winner …
My current most hated is the Carl’s JR Cheese Cheeked Burger Wolf. That is one stupid annoying ad.
HOOOOWWWWLL!
The Peloton commercial discussed earlier has been named most disturbing horror film of the season.
I just saw this article in AV Club about that very commercial:
MarketWatch, too: Peloton’s viral ad captures a ‘116 lb woman’s YEARLONG fitness journey to becoming a 112 lb woman’
It’s her crazy eyes. her affect. She does not seem happy. More than the fact she 1) already looks in shape and 2) doesn’t look any different a year later, is the fact that she acts like she’s living in a Twilight Zone episode. “yes, honey, it’s a good thing to ride the bike, A very good thing!”
I’m so glad everyone else gets how weird this commercialis.
It really is about 70% due to her face. The other 30% is the stupid premise.
NBC’s Nightly News did a story on the Peloton commercial last night, and now my local news is covering it.
I’d be surprised if they don’t drop it from the airwaves soon.
I was thinking that as well, but then again they are getting a lot of free publicity and exposure, and not everyone hates the commercial, either. There are probably a lot of people who never heard of their product before now seeing it on their news. I think they will let it run it’s course.
Peloton stock lost nearly a billion in value after releasing that creepy ad. The stock drop isn’t necessarily tied to the commercial, of course, but I’m guessing there’s a lot of people on the Peloton board who are really, really looking for something to blame for that.
I do not get all the uproar over the Pelaton commercial. It seems completely innocuous to me.
I don’t know if I buy into the sexism angle, but the woman looks freakin’ terrified in her little selfie videos.
