…
Right?
For what little it’s worth as the OP…question asked and answered. I’m happy to see this one taken out back and nonthreateningly put down.
You mean birch-slapped.
Seeing prejudice and persecution, he doesn’t want to make the same mistakes as Martin Niemöller.
Moderator Note
This thread isn’t about Shagnasty. Let’s all stick to the topic at hand please.
He says he is not some “‘wetback’ that spends time on some other board and brings that crap here.” The rest of that clause refers to GIGOblaster’s previous actions, so he is clearly also calling GIGOblaster a “wetback.” Otherwise the sentence does not make sense. Putting quotes around something doesn’t necessarily turn it into a mention instead of a use.
And, yes, his edit was after he had clearly seen the moderator instructions. And It was that edit that violated the moderator instructions. Once he admitted he had seen it, he should have also removed the offending part from the post.
It’s all emblematic of his underlying problem. He just never stopped to think for a minute before he posted. If he’d thought about it, he’d realize that his sentence was calling GIGOblaster a slur, and he’d realize that editing in that he hadn’t seen a mod note would only prove he had now seen it.
I do also remember him getting quite a few mod notes where the mods reminded him time and time again to take some time to consider what he said before he said it, to avoid winding up in trouble.
(Quoted post snipped)
I disagree. I really don’t think that, even if he’d stopped and thought about it, he would have given enough of a shit to change his post.
+1
He took a lot of pride in being abrasive to the point of daring the mods to ban him. People have posted about his seeming desire for suicide by mods.
bitch slap:
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bitch%20slap
Term is used figuratively to mean putting someone in their place (or diss) in no uncertain terms.
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/bitch-slap
to humiliate (someone) with ridicule, criticism, or other verbal abuse
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bitch-slap
—often used figuratively
Still runs afoul of the “don’t be a jerk” rule
Your third link is not opening for me, but the first two definitions in the Urban Dictionary link and the first definition in the dictionary.com link all refer to the physical act. I don’t think anyone in this thread was arguing that the term could never be used figuratively.
MW (3rd link)defines it as:
slang
: to slap (someone) angrily usually as an expression of dominance, contempt, or disrespect
So, just to clarify, I shouldn’t threaten to “rhetorically bitch-slap” someone?
Please no. See post #36 for clarity that addresses every argument advanced thus far.
Seems pretty jerkish to me.
