Just in case I needed something else, I had to go to a friend’s son’s concert yesterday for his “rock school” and they decided that this was going to be a U2 cover concert. Not only is
U2 even worse when young children are playing it, the entire thing turned into a benefit for fucking Darfur and we were preached at (badly) about Bono’s cause de jour for over an hour. Man, fuck U2,

Well, I was speaking partly tongue-in-cheek; I have literally no idea why Chris Martin named his daughter that, nor whether he even uses Macs, it was just a link that amused me. I suspect the name is more down to terrible taste than anything else.

All the Edge does is milk the “EXACT SAME” guitar line. Fine. I play guitar a little. I understand some musical basics. Let’s talk actual tracks and guitar lines from all his stuff and give me a point by point on how it’s all the “EXACT SAME”. Or are you full of it?

All their albums are just versions of the first one. Come on, give us some musical analysis. Are we talking lyrical themes? Chord progressions? What? Just hot air, I suspect.

Actually, the statements that all their albums are versions of the first one and that all the Edges guitar lines are the “EXACT SAME” are objective statements. Wrong (as you’ve pretty much tacitly admitted now) but objective.

Since I’ve never said that the guy is the most capable etc guitarist I don’t know why the hell this comment is said in response to a post of mine.

Let me give you a brief lesson in logic. This is probably going over your head, but try to understand, mmkay?

The statement that the Edge does is milk the “EXACT SAME guitar line” is a statement concerning whether or not he always plays the exact same guitar lines. It is not a statement about his playing ability, his smoothness, or whether he is better or worse than anyone else at playing the lines that he plays. No amount of strawmanning my position is going to make this any different. No amount of ad homs are going to make this any different. No amount of telling me how other guitarists are better and smoother is going to make this any different.
