Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: LMD - Season 4 thread (Open Spoilers for aired episodes)

FWIW, every season to date has ended with the death/destruction of the main enemy, followed by some wrapup and a scene or two teasing the plot of the next season:

Season 1: Garrett gets disintegrated, Raina tells Cal “I found your daughter.”

Season 2: Jiaying is defeated & dies, Teragenesis crystals eaten by fish and Jemma sucked into the monolith.

Season 3: Hive dies with Lincoln in orbit, Renegade Daisy being chased by Coulson & Mac.

I strongly suspect they’ll just continue that formula. The teaser may include the new Inhuman series.

Well, looks like all the predictions of dead people in the framework getting new bodies in the real world are sunk. The human printer got blown up with the oil platform base, no? I suppose Fitz and Aida might be able to build another one, but it seems unlikely.

Episode felt a bit rushed. Some great scenes, but I feel like it should have been two episodes. Wasn’t as great as the recent ones, and I was REALLY not thrilled to see ghost rider back. Sigh… I was hoping not to see him for a while… or ever.

Same goes for the Russian. Never liked him when there was only one of him. Multiples doesn’t help matters.

I’ve been impressed with Mallory Jansen’s work all season long.
She’s played:
• android Aida
• regular woman Agnes Kitsworth
• Madame Hydra
• simulation Agnes
• human (discovering emotions) Aida
and IMO, as made each one a distinctive character.

In addition to the subtle changes in how she’s acted the different roles, in the timeline of someone I follow on Twitter, someone was also praising the makeup/costuming for the job they’ve done with even making Mallory look slightly different, depending on which role she was fulfilling. Like, even her hair and skin looks a little more artificial as Aida, versus Ophelia.

Bumping for the announcement, that ABC has finally gotten off the pot and renewed for season 5.

We saw Yoyo alive at the end, but I wonder about Mack…

Assuming Mack is still alive, I wouldn’t want them to print Hope. That would just seem wrong. And it’s like the start of a horror movie.

Me, too. I agree with other posts that she will most likely be killed off next week, but it wouldn’t bother me if she comes back in one form or another. And to state the obvious, good lord she is gorgeous!

Not that I want the show to end, but I hope they just announce it will be the last season ahead of time. I want them to build to something final, instead of just hoping it will continue,

SHIELD/Galavant mashup?

Relevant song

Yay for this! I always feel like this show is perennially on the bubble, and I always hold out hope it’s going to be renewed. Glad we can have it for another year!

I feel this way over pretty much every TV show. Playing the waiting game never helps anyone, if they can secure it enough in advance then they can have a REAL ending, which is always good.

But let’s hope that doesn’t happen for another 3 or so years (the end of the MCU seems like a good end to this too, no?)

Just saw the season finale.

On the ending moments:

Dafuq? How long have they been in space?

Why are you using a spoiler box?

I assume the final scene is some time - weeks or months after the scene before it - the mysterious bald guy froze & kidnapped them, and they’ve been working in space since then. Presumably it will tie into the upcoming Inhuman series somehow.

Agents in Spaaaace

Apparently next season will air after the 8-episode run of Inhumans, so we’ll see. I’m guessing lots of Thor/Guardians easter eggs.

Anyway, I though the finale was great, but rushed. I loved Ghost Coulsen fighting with Aida, but I wish it had gone on longer. Radcliffe’s death was also really well done.

I wasn’t even thinking of Thor, but you’re probably right. We know from past seasons that the AoS writers get access to the upcoming movies before they’re released.

To be honest, I thought the Framework plot was much more interesting and well done than the Ghost Rider/Aida plot.

And where did Fitz get a Jemma LMD? She was the only agent who wasn’t LMD’d a few episodes ago.

I’m guessing they already had one built and waiting, similar to the Daisy-bots.

Well, Ragnarok will already be out before the next season. I big question will be if Infinity War ties in. It should be a fairly universe-shaking movie, and depending on when season 5 starts, will be out around the last few episodes.

I liked that Radcliffe may have been the last person in the Framework. Kind of implies that Aida’s programming to protect him (which IIRC is what got him stuck there with no real-world body in the first place) was holding even as she was shutting the place down.

Only if the easter eggs are those that are dyed one color. Since the first season, the call outs to the cinematic universe have been rather bland - pretty much just admitting that it exists.

True, but did they know that when they filmed the final scene? Ragnarok comes out Nov 3 - usually they’d be at episode 5 or 6 by then, just perfect for a decent length story arc. Doing an entire season in outer space just to tie into Infinity War in the last few episodes seems like a stretch.

BTW, I thought the sendoff to Powers Boothe at the end was very nice.

Caught the episode last night. And, just as I said/feared, it ended up being Deus Ex Ghost Rider-na. Although I will say transferring the Spirit of Vengeance to Coulson, but not explaining why is a pretty good teaser.

There was at least SOME tension in the show when you thought they killed arguably the two characters they absolutely cannot kill. I like that Radcliffe got his happy ending. I mean, he died and all, but it was calming and happy for him.

As for next season, it took be a bit, but I eventually shouted “they’re going to the moon!” because of the Inhumans. I’m curious to see how they weave the Inhumans into this story without having the cast be, like, 500 people large. But I’m certainly looking forward to it!

Here’s a negative: I love her character, but holy shit is Yo-Yo a bad actress when she’s trying to be emotional. I love how she is with Mack when they’re being sarcastic and quippy and she’s in control, but her teary-eyed scenes were just painful.
