agree with Muldoonthief - what was presented in that special was very different than what was shown in IM3.
I know this episode was on over a week ago, and everyone’s probably bored of this thread by now, but why the attachment to the Kree theory? I don’t know a lot about Marvel, but in the Marvel Cinematic Universe we’ve been introduced to one blue race and that’s the Frost Giants.
On top of this, I thought Sif’s list was suggestive of the significance of Frost Giants. It was the last item on the list, almost as a slight afterthought. In fiction, the last item on a list so often turns out to be the most important in some way. And Mr Blue looked a lot like a Frost Giant to me.
He wasn’t quite big enough to be a frost giant I thought.
a frost hobbit then?
DWARF frost giant. To be played by Peter Dinklage in the prequel, trying to cash in on that Tyrion Lannister magic.
Absolutely…an agency that’s willing to nuke New York to keep out an alien army ought to be able to use nonlethal weapons on an alien sorceress who’s building an army. Without a second thought. Hell, forget targeting her specifically, just hose down the area liberally with “icers” and let the cleanup team sort 'em out.
And then S.H.I.E.L.D. will immediately become embroiled in a huge EEO lawsuit filed by its female agents. The ONE TIME their gender would be an advantage and S.H.I.E.L.D. won’t use them…disgraceful.
This of course confirms Ward as a idiot as Ethilrist said.
He let her touch him??? Why not just shoot her? What happened to the tried and true Blam, Blam, Blam- “Stop or I’ll shoot?” he has a non-lethal weapon.
And this makes Coulson a dim bulb too. Why send in Ward, except wit a sniper rifle?
Or just have him with a icer gun, and finding out the bullets don’t work against her. Why not? She’s a Asgardian Sorceress, right? (or Alfar, depending on the mythology)
Naw, he’ll kill Simmons- pointlessly.

Loki is a Frost Giant, so I guess Frost Giants come in all sizes like a Coke at McDonalds.
With skillful use of Pause and Input buttons, I compared the bisected alien to the frost giants from Thor. Frost Giants were definitely darker, and had facial features - lines on the cheeks and forehead, some bumps, etc that the alien did not have. True, Loki doesn’t have those, and is normal sized, but infant Loki had some facial lines that he doesn’t have as an adult, so presumably Odin used some magic/plastic surgery to make Loki look Asgardian instead of Jotunheimian.
He didn’t send in Ward, Ward was covering the rear exit and caught Lorelei making a run for it with Dwayne while Sif took down the gang inside.
But yeah, I’m pretty sick of people on tv with guns letting threatening people walk right up to them. Warning shot, shoot to wound, do something besides stand there saying “don’t move!” over and over when they’ve clearly decided they’ll keep moving.
Well, if it possible the perp may escape thru the rear exit and you’re having a guy cover that- you’re* sending him in.*
As opposed to having him sit it out on the bus, or be 500 yards away with a sniper rifle.
Ward should not have been within 100 yards of Lorelie.
I still think her mere presence made him hesitate.
In “Thor” the Frost Giants were only about a foot or two taller than Thor himself–that looked about right for “tubey”.
I think King Laufrey was shown to be a bit bigger but not by that much.
Sending him in would mean sending him into the building after Lorelei - see how the sending him in is right there?
Coulson and the other males were covering the perimeter, front and rear, which is totally sensible. As has been pointed out, the men on the perimeter had non-lethal ranged weapons - they should have been shooting anyone leaving the building on sight, period. Ward engaging Rooster and Lorelei is what doesn’t make sense. Put them down, sort them out - no reason not to.
Ok, let’s not quibble. Even covering the rear at close range means a chance Ward will run into Lorelie. Thus, why was he there? Why was he within a 100 yards? Why didn’t he shoot first?
I liked the show to start but:
- I hate Sky.
- I don’t like the fact that Coulson murdered two men to save her worthless ass. It’s not like Coulson- disobey orders? Sure. Kill two men? Huh?
- I don’t like the fact that Ward is a complete moron.
Hmm, my memories of IM3 are worse than I thought. And here I was excited that I ‘remembered’ it. Carry on then. :smack:
Sooooo…having jumped off the deep end, dropped cable service, and switched over to streaming TV…was there an Agents of Shield recap kind of thingy last night? And if so, where might that show/episode be found? ABC didn’t seem to have it on their website (when I checked online). Maybe there wasn’t one, but some people have mentioned such, complete with spoilers? He’p?
It was more a brief recap of the IRON MAN movies, and the THOR movies, and the HULK movies, and the AVENGERS movie, and the CAPTAIN AMERICA movie, with spoilers for the upcoming WINTER SOLDIER movie, and a sneak peek at the upcoming AVENGERS sequel, and likewise for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, plus a quick retrospective of the one-shot shorts, with very little time left for the television series.
