Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D S02E12: Who You Really Are

Yes, unless Sif was able to arrange for that to be returned to Hala as well. They should have addressed that.

(shrug) It’s her eyes. And her slight overbite. And her perfect unruly hair. She owned my soul the first time she blinked. Same thing for the guys on the show. May looks like she’s puking into her mouth when she sees the guys do it.

Skye’s computer skills are hardly shown as “moderate” in the show - she’s elite at that.

Whether for good or bad, everyone seems to be of a mind that Skye as Quake cements her role as the center character of the show. I’m inclined to think otherwise.

Obviously, her story arc is going to be important for the rest of this season but if the show gets picked up for a third season I see Skye as getting pushed out. I’d guess the character would go off on her own and the actress would be reduced to a few guest appearances. That is, unless they want to rename the show Marvel’s Friends of Quake. We’re going to see her coming to terms with her new self and learning to control her powers then, my guess is, that will be it.

She may even be sidelined for some episodes of this season: “No, Skye, you stay behind and have an herbal tea! We can’t have you shaking the hell out of this mission!”

I’m thinking the rest of the season is “find a way for Skye to control her powers” which is going to lead them to the rest of the Inhumans (but only the ones out in the world, not the Royal Family or Attilan, I’m guessing).

That and the internal betrayal by Mac&Bobbi, of course.

Ward will probably be brought back into the story at some point as well.

So I get that a Diviner creates Inhumans, or perhaps unlocks latent qualities. But what does it divine?

The comics character she has been molded into is an Agent of Shield. I don’t see any reason why she would need to be pushed out of the show. She’ll gain some control or suppression and then go more or less back to normal. That’s kind off the beauty of earthquake powers…they really aren’t that useful.

It could be a diviner in the sense that it makes you godlike rather than in the sense that it tells the future.

If you touch it, it divines whether it should kill or not. The original Kree scientists would have known who they experimented on though, so I’m not sure why they’d call it that. Maybe it doesn’t translate to English that well.

The diviners have a different effect on every Inhuman they activate. Maybe that’s what they “divine:” the nature of your nascent superpowers.

That’s what I was thinking also - more a divination (learning about something) rather than making something “divine” or being divine of itself.

On the flip side, it would seem a bit pointless to divine only at the point of changing. I very much get the impression Raina at least would have liked an option to say “waitaminute” before getting turned into a thorn monster.

It’s like Cal said to Raina. It gives you want you want. You might not realize it’s what you wanted. That’s in-line with the comics. The results of the terrigen mists are unpredictable, and if deep down you’re a jerk, you might not like the results you get.

Nope, I will bet 100 Quatloos that as time goes on the show will become more and more “Skye & friends”.

Yeah, that Inhumans movie is years away, so Skye probably isn’t going anywhere unless she gets a spin-off show.

I’ll take that bet.

Sky is the POV character, she’s not going anywhere.

Valerie was the POV character from Valerie.

I’ll put another 100 Quatloos alongside DrDeth’s. The only thing that might derail The Skye Show (formerly Agents of SHIELD) would be the addition of a cute kid hero to the cast.

“Daisy, now that you finally know all there is to know about your mother and father, I’d like to introduce you to your cousin, Oliver.”
