Yeah, the MCU has to put out one or two movies per year, as opposed to Marvel Comics, who put out a few dozen comics per month. The MCU has a lot less need to resurrect dead characters.
I was going to opine that if they waved enough money under his nose, Weaving would reprise the role. But then I remembered I was talking about Marvel. But then I remembered I was also talking about Disney. So if they really wanted him, they could money-whip him into line fairly quickly.
But as muldoonthief noted, they hardly need to.
True for now, but by the end of the year they’re going to have, what, three different TV series? Four?
But also… there’s absolutely no reason to bring Weaving back. They can bring back the Red Skull–they don’t need Weaving to play him.
Don’t be silly! That would be as absurd as recasting “Rhodey” Rhodes!
Or Bruce Banner! Twice!
The strange one is the casting of Howard Stark. John Slattery played Howard Stark in Iron Man 2. But then they recast the role and Dominic Cooper played Howard Stark in Captain America and Agent Carter. But for the upcoming Ant Man, they’ve brought Slattery back.
Apparently Howard is going to have an interesting decade or two.
Well, that is not that off. Cooper is playing young Howard Stark, Slattery is playing middle-aged Stark.
Somebody in Marvel Casting Department is a Roseanne fan.
I know you’re making a Becky joke, but Roseanne was Joss Whedon’s first writing gig…
As Marvel keeps telling us…“It’s all connected!”
If it turns out that the Hulk is a Time Lord, you read it here first.
Young Howard Stark = Howard Hughes
Middle-aged Howard Stark = Walt Disney.
I think it’s to give it more of a ‘cinematic’ feel in line with the movies, as opposed to being a brightly-lit sitcom. A more critical person might say its to hide the underwhelming nature of the sets… the ‘underground city’ before the break was pretty bland looking, IMO, which is one reason they made it so dark.
I know what you’re trying to say here, but (main universe) comics Jean Grey has been dead since 2004…
And yet there’s still, like, three of them running around in All New X-Men.
There’s been up to two Jean Grays in All-New: from-the-past Jean Gray, and Ultimate Jean Gray. The former has not yet ever died and come back to life; I’m not sure about Ultimate.
There are the three Stepford Cuckoos as occasional characters in All-New. They’ve had the Phoenix Force at some point, and one (or two) of their dead members have come back from the dead.
But main universe MU616 Jean Gray has been dead since 2004, and only came back to life once (if you don’t count “Phoenix”) or twice (if you do count “Phoenix”).
Nope, it’s to save on special effects. Cheap-ass way, too.
There’s also from-the-future version of from-the-past Jean Gray, where she’s all evil and stuff.
