Ah, the annoyances of close quarters living...

The toilet in the upstairs apartment has been running 24/7 for a week now. At least I think it’s the toilet; SOMETHING is certainly running water.

I’ve been calling for several days, but I’ve been told there’s nothing they can do without permission from the tenant, so they’ve been calling and leaving messages, without word. Now I understand that there might be NO ONE living there. Yet still nothing’s been done.

It’s just loud enough to be annoying and disturb my sleep, I have no idea what it’s doing to the pipes and all (hopefully nothing), and the utilities billing is such that I’m paying for this wasted water.

Bah. :stuck_out_tongue:

You are paying for another tenant’s water?! Do you have the means to turn the water off at night?

Well, the way it works here is that all the usage is added up and divided equally among everyone in the building, minus common area usage. I understand it’s standard in many places in my area.

And no, I don’t have that means. At least the office contact told me I could “protest” any part of the bill I felt was due to the toilet upstairs. Still, a hassle.

Can you tell if someone has been home ? Toilet resevoir tanks have been known to suddenly crack which could explain the sound of constantly running water.

I’m suprised the landlord isn’t that concerned about it.

A much more likely scenario is that the flapper is stuck. Have you tried going up there yourself and rapping on their door?
mmm

Well, it’s fixed now. I did try going up there, but as it turned out, the apartment really WAS unoccupied. (Plus, I assumed after a few days that anyone but a deaf person would’ve done something about it by then.)

Now all I have to do is wait for the next water bill…
