Ah, to be 14 and living in Florida

My point was one that is completely off topic from the OP. That seems to be lost on people.

I just think using the “there shouldn’t be a double standard” argument against any topic is lazy and ignorant.

As to the rest of the comments in the thread:

This woman broke the law, throw the book at her.

Do I think this boy is emotionally scarred from the incident? Hell no. Should the amount of suffering and ramifications of a crime (any crime) affect the sentencing? Absolutely.

There was apparently no suffering whatsoever in this crime. I doubt the boy is going to grow up twisted becuase of this (though his ego will probably be out of control). As a result I’d tend towards the low end of the sentencing requirement. Not because she is attractive (though that factors into the lack of suffering), but because of the impact of the crime on a case-by-case basis.

If a hypothetical mature 14 year-old girl seduces a 24 year old teacher and it’s totally consentual, I would also tend toward low sentence assuming the girl was equally unhurt by the incident. Still a crime which needs to be punished, but blindly lumping it in with all kinds of rape, or pre-supposing that the guy acted in a predatory manner against the girls will is pretty dumb.
