AK & MS Mosquitos - I PIT !!!

dAMN YOU SUCKER BUGS.

You tore me up in Mississippi (and Mobile AL, FWIW, in 1967) … leaving oozy leaking drippy huge welts … toxic to the bone.

Now I’m in AK, and have attracted the very FIRST INSECTS in Bethel (just this past Saturday - icky little nippy flies) …

and dang it all. I opened the window (in my scummy slummy apt / no screens) and you invaded my place and BIT ME. I could not sleep for the itching. These damn bites are swollen all over my arms, earlobe, chin.

Yeah, they are out down here too. Wait until the noseeums come out in droves. You might want to invest in a bug hat (netting around the head and neck). I am allergic to the bites as well, and have small scars from the mosquitos on my arms.

On the bright side, they all go away in September (maybe earlier in Bethel) and there will be no bugs all winter long.

There were persistent rumors in WWII that anti-aircraft gunners in the Aleutians opened fire on mosquitos, mistaking them for Zeros. The rumor is, of course, false; The tail assembly on a mosquito is unmistakably different from that of a Zero.
