Al Yeganeh's "Soup Kitchen"

Has anyone eaten at this establishment that Jerry Seinfeld made famous?

When I was there earlier this year, I made it a point to go there. (You know, bloody tourists.)

It was exactly as I had read about it. There was indeed a constant line of about 20 people, and the service was, well, “curt.”

His rules, IIRC, which are clearly posted say something like 1)choose your soup, 2) have money ready, and 3) move over to the left to await your pick-up.

He wasn’t joking, either. I saw several people get fussed at because they weren’t moving fast enough. He never did say, “No soup for you,” though.

And I was happy with what I got. Sure, it was a little pricy by my standards, but it was truly good soup, some various fruits, and a big hunk of bread.

So I was happy about it.

Anyone else have any stories?

No, but thanks for the report. I would think his place would be making a lot of money from the publicity.
