Not in defense of Mince, but a clarification of my personal reaction to the post: seeing as how the post came very shortly after Mr. Berg’s non-hating attitudes had begun to be discussed, I didn’t think for a moment that he was Nick Berg’s parent.
But I did go to Wikipedia to see if I could find a comprehensive list of beheading video victims, with the goal of seeing if it was feasible to determine whose parent Mince was.
Anyway, Mince, that’s what I was talking about, above.

Hey, jackass; I never said he’s trolling in this thread. I responded to a post above where Trunk asserted that someone else’s posting wasn’t as trollish as ANYTHING Trunk himself has posted. As the link someone else provided shows, Trunk has, in fact, evidenced incredibly trollish behavior on this board at some time.

Well, “jackass” and “idiot” are, IMHO, not really nice things to be calling each other. And yes I realize that there are certain feelings about someone dying. For example, I used to be very much in favor of the death penalty. Now, I’m very much against it–in all cases.
Trunk’s assertion that someone who’s glad, though, that someone who’s a mass murderer is out of action is just as bad as that mass murderer isn’t exactly a valid comparison; heck, it’s probably not even one of degree.
One can be a 100% pacifist without the extreme hyperbole/extreme charges, I’d think.

I find it sad that Nick Berg’s father has such a hatred of George Bush that he can’t take even a little satisfaction in knowing the murderer of his son is dead.

What does his father have to be satisfied about? “Well, my son is dead, but at least someone else’s son is dead, too!” And the reason for all the deaths still exists and there isn’t anything that will change.

Yeah, I had the same reaction as kaylasdad99 - didn’t go as far as trying to look up anything, but just drew a conclusion based on the “evidence” at hand, as it were. If I’m naive for taking the post at face value, at least it shows my tendency toward cynicism about people is being held in check by something.

Bullshit. As far as i can tell, they’re his honest opinion about the issue, and they’re being posted in a forum—The Pit—where strong differences of opinion are commonplace.
