Alan Colmes leaving Hannity and Colmes

My goodness, however will Fox News be “fair and balanced” now?

Seriously, though, this could get interesting. Will Fox continue its neo-con leanings in the face of a rapidly dwindling demographic, or will they start creeping a bit toward the center for the sake of ratings? The selection of Colmes’ replacement (if there is one) will be very telling. Do they go with more of the same, say a Michael Kinsley-type, or more of a firebrand like an Ed Schultz?

I doubt Hannity would be comfortable with the latter, but in the end, you do what your bosses tell you. Remember, FNC once offered Keith Olbermann a job.

He can go back to being a bartender on The Simpsons.

Bob Beckel is a frequent guest on the show who has a set of balls, he might be good.

The person I’d really like to see, even though he’s not a conventional liberal, is Christopher Hitchens. He can’t get overpowered, he doesn’t toe party lines and he makes Hannity look like the vapid tool he is every time he spars with him. He would improve that show a hundredfold, but I can’t see Fox hiring somebody who’s such an intellectual mismatch for Hannity.

Word is Hannity will host the show alone.

From Cynopsis, a trade e-zine:

Speaking as a libertarian/conservative, I do not think this is a good idea. I think having a liberal host would be a good balance to the show…James Carville, maybe?

That’s fair and balanced for you.
