I woke up to this Talking Head discussing how ridiculous that Obama didn’t say we won the war in Iraq last night during his speech. Also, that Obama’s speech was hypocritical since he ran on the platform that the war was a mistake.
Granted, I was half asleep but I could and can not make heads or tails to this argument! How is saying a war is a mistake hypocritical when you are announcing hitting a major deadline for pulling out troops? Can someone explain this to me slowly? It has been bugging me all day.
Also, did we win the war? Maybe Obama didn’t say it, because we didn’t? Granted I live in my Leftie Liberal bubble out here in MA but are there people out there who think we won?
I don’t think we were ever there to ‘win,’ but most of Bush’s stated objectives were met, one way or another.
~ No weps of mass destruction (not that there ever were any)
~ Saddam Hussein out of power
~ More-or-less functional government in place (such as it is)
I guess that could be called a win. Maybe.
But political radio isn’t there to make sense - Just to cater to the masses whom pay their bills.
It was either my cat or I hit the tuner when I flailed for the snooze button. Well, you have to admit waking up to a discussion that makes no sense and you disagree with is a pretty good way to get you out of bed. At least I don’t have a song like, “I Got You Babe” in my head all day!
I know for some people that Obama can do no right but being against a war doesn’t bar you from appreciating soldiers’ sacrifices… And he is against just the Iraq War so schlepping our soldiers over to Afghanistan is very on messge.
Argument is a connected series of statements to establish a definite proposition. It’s an intellectual process, talk radio is just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other party says.
What a coincidence-so did mine! Tho it was actually one of those right-wing fire & brimstone religious stations (I always use the beeper and not the radio on my alarm clock).
