Alaska is bigger than all but 18 countries

And it’s more than 2x the size of Texas, the 2nd biggest state.

the water part of Alaska would be the 11th largest state on its own.

And of course the population is very small , 48th in the US.

Alaska is also the most western and most eastern state.

When Alaskans get pissed off at Texans they say they’ll cut their state in half and make Texas the third largest state.

We have a great life here in Alaska, and we’re never going back to America again!

If all the rivers in Alaska were laid end to end, they would reach the moon.
Alaska has more coastline that all the rest of the U.S. combined.
Juneau is the largest state capital by area, and the only state capital without road access.
The biomass of Alaska’s mosquitoes exceeds the total biomass of all mammals in the U.S.
Alaska has about 3 bears for every human.
Alaska is the only state that begins and ends with a.

Alabama?
Arizona?

Florida part of Alaska now?

Did you believe everything else?

Seemed plausible.

Trippy.

A couple of them are correct, such as Juneau having the largest area of any state capital.

they were going to move the state capital to Willow. People bought up a bunch of land there hoping to make a quick profit but the plan to move to Willow did not happen so they were left with land that was worth almost nothing. Willow was picked because it was more central than Juneau.

But only on a dubious definition of “most eastern” and “most western”. If an aircraft takes off from mainland Alaska it flies west across the Interntaional Date Line to reach Siberia; the tip of the Aleutians is west of mainland Alaska.

The notion that Alaska is the most easterly state relies up on a definition where further west = smaller numeric longitude, further east = larger numeric longitude, based on the arbitrary datum 000/180. Under this definition, it is impossible to travel from a point on the datum to anywhere “more” west or “more” east!

For contiguous states, the common sense meaning is based on relative position, where the most easterly state would be the last one that you reach by traveling in an easterly direction, whatever the arbitrary numeric value of longitude. But this definition doesn’t work for non-contiguous states, since you can obviously travel around the globe in either direction to reach other states.

This part seemed a bit off, but I wasn’t sure

and when I searched for Willow AK I found out Willow Palin (named for the town) is 24 and married and having twins soon. I think you can figure out who her mother is.

Yes, I started out by making up the first one and was going to post it as a joke, then checked and discovered it was true.

If all the rivers in Alaska were laid end to end, they would reach the moon.

Yeah, I hear that’s Minnesota.

Another number , it took Sarah Palin 5 colleges but she eventually got her BA degree. Only 1 of the 5 are in Alaska, 2 are in Hawaii.

If it is true about the mosquitoes it’s time to nuke Alaska.

Alaska has a lot of very big mosquitoes but they only are a problem during the short summers , they die off quickly when summer ends in early Sept.
