Alaska Shows How to Support Our Troops

I ran across this example of support for our troops, and thought it was worth sharing. Just a thoughtful gesture from home, but it seems to have had deep effect:

The rest of this letter is worth a read, and the Hometown Gift idea sounds like something that could be replicated in other communities.

As someone with a family member in Iraq, I can say it doesn’t matter what your politics are, these guys and gals need this kind of reassurance that their communities appreciate their courage, and are looking forward to the day when they can come back to their hometowns safely.

If you are from a community that might get behind something like this, talk to just one other person about it; you might be all it takes to get the ball rolling.

That is a very nice gesture, to be sure

Not too bad at all. They picked a very appropriate tool as well.

Holy crap, 150 Wave Leatherman tools for each soldier? The entire shipment for the whole company must have weighed tons.

Honestly though, that is one of the coolest things I have ever read. And what’s the kicker for me is that it’s something you know the Soldiers are going to use, and that makes all the difference to anyone that’s ever been to the field.

Tripler
And they’ll see the engraving every day.
