At least one of whom was arrested as a direct result of being at a NAMBLA meeting.
It is unfair. The organization had its case dismissedas you noted.
The wrongful death case against NAMBLA was dismissed, yes, but there’s still a matter of a civil suit against them.
It is more than a tag. The link was disabled in this thread. How is that for fighting ignorance? It amkes it harder for people to look at NAMBLA’s site. How many people in this thread do you really think know anything about NAMBLA that is backed up by hard evidence?
The link still looks valid to me, and the comment added by the mod merely says that he added a NSFW tag. I’m posting from work right now, so I’m sure as hell not going to click on it to see if it still works. But if there actually is something important on the NAMBLA website, it’s trivially easy for someone to get there on their own through a quick Google search. I don’t see how breaking the link (if that’s what’s really happened - anyone posting from home who can double check this?) creates any sort of a barrier to knowledge.
Which, incidentally, completely ignores the fact that you posted that link to “rebut” an obvious joke. No one is under the impression that NAMBLA hosts a clip-art file of child porn. Linking to NAMBLA in this thread didn’t fight any ignorance. It just made you look like a tool.
The only benefit I see to NAMBLA is that puts people’s beliefs to a hard test. Do you really believe in free speech? Does this message board really support an open discussion of issues in a manner to fight ignorance?
This is a privately owned and operated message board. Free speech doesn’t apply: they’re under no obligation to allow any sort of speech at all, and explicitly forbid several types of speech because they are detrimental to the good order of the board. For example: trolling, spam, information on how to break the law, and hate speech are all verboten here. Freedom of speech is only a meaningful concept when applied to the federal government. It does not restrict private organizations from limiting speech on their property in whatever manner they deem appropriate.

Not a problem for me. The link still works. Jebus is still an idiot. Sun rises in east.

Sorry. The link was disabled in the Great Debates thread.
