I’d take “Fluff” over Paranoids “Rat Salad”, Master of Reality’s “Embryo” or half of Vol 4, especially “Changes”.
The Avalanches Since I Left You. (Although this may be cheating a little: the breaks between individual songs are barely noticeable, so the whole album is like one long (and rocking!) song.)

Welcome to the SDMB, Leechboy! Leechbabe’s other half, I presume?

Sadly no one has mentioned Slayer’s Seasons in the Abyss and South of Heaven. I’ll second Megadeth’s Countdown to Extinction. Also from a while back Def Leppard Pyromaina. Throw in Willie Nelson’s Red Headed Stranger disk.
NP: Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
I’d say that’s Pantera’s best.
Also: James Iha - Let It Come Down. > in a mellow kinda way.
Ah, “Thick as a Brick” by Jethro Tull.
Of course, “Thick as a Brick” is the only good song on the album.
I’ll second “Angel Dust” by Faith No More. Not a bad song in the whole bunch!
I’lNot that I enjoy bashing my favorite band of all time but l’ll see your Rat Salad, Embryo and Changes (Yuck! The only reason I left Vol 4 off my list size=1]FX is too short to reach annoying status[/size]) and raise you an It’s Alright, Air Dance and (on my grouch days, Superzar.
Vol 4. is generally the one namechecked by fans of stoner rock liek Electric Wizard or Acid King. Personally, I don’t much care for 90% of the album. Even so, it’s not half as bad as Born Again or the incredibly awful Tyr.
Oh yeah, I forgot Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue and Public Enemy’s Fear of a Black Planet
“illmatic”, by nas.
this album is 45 minutes of genius. sure, you may not like rap, but nas’ cool, nonstop flow transports you right into his gritty, east coast world. it was released in 1994, so it’s after rakim started new school and before the mtv rap explosion. really, one of the most creative times for hiphop. it’s intelligent, and it seems more like he’s reporting street crime than glorifying it. listen to “life’s a bitch”, where AZ steals the track with one of the most amazing verses ever. but nas more than holds his own. this is a masterpeice of minimalism, it says little but the words hit hard and leave an impression like a mack truck.
“Life’s a bitch and then you die;
that’s why we get high,
cause you never know
when you’re gonna go”
also, the afghan whigs “black love.” criminally overlooked, this album is sonic cinema. lead singer greg dulli lays all his guilt out for you to hear. it sounds like a therapy session, but he’s not very repentant. there’s an r+b sentiment to it, but good r+b, like curtis mayfield and marvin. but there’s this edge, a bloody, cruel, evil edge that surfaces even in the most melodic song on the album.
“To tell the truth
To tell it well
It all depends upon the liar”
I couldn’t agree more, and may I add, Chris Whitley, “Living with the Law” and The Smiths, “The Queen is Dead.”
Ive always thought that an album couldnt be perfect, even david gray - white ladder wasnt perfect…example: Wer’re Not Right.
But Pink Floyd DSOTM is Perfect ! No Doubt.
Physical Graffetti
Abbey Road
Odelay
This is way too easy. Each album consists of one (very long) good song
Thick as a Brick
A Passion Play
Both are by Jethro Tull. Another one good song album: Sacreligium by Devil Doll. though it does have some dull moments, the song is good overall. Also:
Wish You Were Here- Pink Floyd
Operation Mindcrime- Queensryche
Brave- Marillion
Surfin’ With the Alien- Joe Satriani
Scenes From a Memory- Dream Theater
I’m sure there are a couple in my car that I’m forgetting, but that’ll have to do.
No one has mentioned The Who - Who’s Next yet? There’s not a weak song on that one.
Warren Zevon - Eponymous Debut
John Prine - Eponymous Debut
(for those who don’t know, ‘eponymous’ means ‘self-titled’).
Lynyrd Skynyrd - “Street Survivors”
The Eagles - “The Long Run”
Rush - “Moving Pictures”
The Beatles - About five albums. “Rubber Soul”, “Sgt. Pepper”, “The White Album”…
SuperTramp - “Breakfast in America”
REM - “Automatic for the People”
Jude “No One Is Really Beautiful.”
Besides Tori Amos’s Little Earth Quakes, a few cds I think are great from start to finish are:
