Alec Baldwin and his promise

Awhile back, Human Turd (and I say that with all sincertiy) Alec Baldwin promised that if Bush became president, he (and then wife Kim Basinger) would move out of the country.

Well, here we are, more than 4 years later, and the man who promised to leave still lives here, annoying us with his reeking presence, dragging down to the depths of deparvity all good Americans.

Forget the other Human Turds we all know. Samuel L. Jackson. John Travolta. Ted Nugent. Etc.

Alec promised to infect another country. He has not. While his divorce may mean Basinger will move to a separate country than Baldwin, I still demand these two wastes of human space leave.

Go to the light Alec. Or at least France.

As a conjoinder (sp?) to this, I have a theory that Hollywood is secretly conservative, but overtly liberal. My rationale:

  1. If a celebrity movie star/rocker/tv star promotes a candidate, no matter how much I agree with them, I want to vote for someone else.

  2. These people are masters of PR. They have to know they’re idiots and disliked when their not entertaining.

  3. Hence, the bait-and-switch technique.

As my friend put so well, “Well, I was a bit undecided at the time between Bush and Gore, but hearing that voting for George would mean ridding ourselves of two worthless, annoying, overpaid, undertalented, ridiculously embarassing celebrity losers, well then, GO BUSH!” [as a side bonus, the rest of the Baldwin clan would inavriably follow suit]

Does any one else see this as valid rationale, or is the Hollywood system really that bloated, stupid,a nd full of itself? I guess the questions rests on the idea about whether people in Hollywood are more crafty and devious or stupid and ego-engorged.

I guess it’s not so clear cut as one might think.

Get snoped about this story.

He denies that he ever said “unequivocally” that he would leave the country. Others did and haven’t left. Perhaps they are more deserving of your scorn.

Why is Sam Jackson a human, er, Human Turd?

So is his “human turd”, “reeking presence”, and “deparvity”[sic] status solely from not liking Bush, or are there other reasons you have such a low opinion of him?

So we got a secondhand reference to “if Bush wins”. Bush didn’t win, ergo, even if the quote was true he’s off the hook.

Maybe some people realized that if Bush became president that all our jobs would be shipped overseas and they’d have to leave the country to find work. I.e., not a promise to leave per se but a recognition of the inevitable.

Not to hijack this thread, but I feel much the same way about Jeaneane Garofolo. Didn’t she claim on O’Riley’s show that if Iraqis were dancing in the streets and welcoming American soldiers with smiles on their faces, that she would crawl to the White House on broken glass or something and apologize to Bush for the things she said? I didn’t see the show myself but it’s my understanding this is what she said. Haven’t heard a peep out of her since.

caaaaaaaa…

bosnywash1, Alec Baldwin is your father.

Do you really care? Some folks just focus far to much on what actors/celebrities have to say. There’re just people. You might think about how our President lied to the country and how much it is costing us in death, world credibility, and the billions that have been spent on the Iraq war. That seems far more important to me than what an actor said.

Yeah…what is this crap about celebrities not being allowed a political leaning or an opinion? Who said they’re not allowed to speak unless it’s from a script? Alec Baldwin doesn’t like Bush. He and most of the country. The nice part about it is he doesn’t HAVE to leave just because he disagrees with the lying sonofabitch. And the OP can’t do anything about it. Nyah, Nyah!

A few things.

  1. I realize I was asking for a bunch of skewed politcal views when I brought up the Pres and his opponents. But can we please lay off the liberal/conservative rhetoric and do something everyone likes: bash Loud Hollywood idiots?

  2. Thanks for pointing out he (Baldwin)claims he was misquoted-- though misquoted by his own wife is hard to image sanely. As for Altman, he’s just full of poop on a daily basis-- go make movies with ensemble casts. And Vedder’s washed up.

  3. No, not my father!

  4. Yeah, Jeannen Garofolo (sp?). Any other famous people make bold statemnts that didn’t make them leave?

  5. I dislike talentless people who try to give off the aura of cool (Jackson, Travolta, And Nugent), clutter our megaplexes and airwaves with crap (re: everything they’ve ever done minus Pulp Fiction and Cat Scratch Fever). As for Jackson specifically, is a waste of perfectly good DNA. But hey, ya know, he’s so fashionable in his rip-off raybands. And you know, Shaft 2000 was a movie begging to be made.

  6. Can anyone comment on my conspiracy theory? Is Hollywood really left, or secretly conservative?

I am NOT saying Alec Baldwin can’t have a political point of view. I object to loudmotuh celebrities thinking just because their famous they can dictate how people will vote. Barbara Streisand, Ted Nugent, Alec Baldwin…the list goes on and on of idiots trying to froce their opinions down my throat about the world.

So, to all the celebrities watching:

IF YOU HAVE AN OPINON AND YOU"RE FAMOUS, SHUT UP!

Your job is to entertain me. Most of you do it badly. Baps, you’re pretty ugly, but hey, you got pipes. Nugent, play the guitar, you ape-man. Baldwin…actually, there is no reason why your famous. Everything you do sucks (and yes, your roles in David Mamet films included).

You’re trying to brainwash people in love with your meager talents by slipping politics in entertainment. Its cheap, its pathetic, and it makes you look and sound stupid.

Did I mention Baldwin advocates Assasination when his politcial viewpoint doesn’t win out?

It seems like every celebrity has their Life Of David Gale moment. And they keep happening.

Now, when can we be rid of the Human Turd Baldwin? And my theory–any thoughts?

Kalhoun–there is little I can say to you other than separate your politics from important things, like which celebrity to bash next.

Bosny, who said any of the celebrities you’ve mentioned are trying to dictate anything? They do exactly as any political activist does. They have an opinion and are free to state that opinion. They have the potential to reach more people via their fame, but any “unknown” activist would give their eye teeth to have the means to reach people the way the rich folks do.

No one is trying to force anything down your throat…except maybe Pseudo-President Bush.

That’s Barbra Streisand. Not “-bara.”

I liked one Alec Baldwin movie ever: The Shadow. OK, that’s it, I’m done contributing.

Sorry, still unclear on what makes Baldwin a “human turd”. Is it because you want him to “SHUT UP” and he doesn’t? Why should you have the right to express yourself but he shouldn’t?

I will give you that I cannot think of anything I saw him in that a really liked, besides some funny SNL sketches.

I don’t believe it a question of celebrities not being allowed a political leaning or opinion. The resentment directed toward them stems from their attempt to use their fame and “star power,” for want of a better term, to get people to agree with whatever agenda they happen to promote. People such as me perceive this as being smug, superior, conceited, and ultimately unfair.

The average citizen who has no more understanding of all the ramifications of a particular issue than they do, and who understands that this is so, feels that their position should hold no more sway than his, yet the celebrities are being given the opportunity to try to sway opinion in their favor simply by virtue of their “star power” (for want of a better term), and they hope that because people like what they see when they see these people onscreen that they will support their positions on societal and political issues.

In simpler terms, they think they can sway opinion in their favor because they’re “hot shit” (once again, for lack of a better term), and people resent it.

[QUOTE]

I think it is the responsibility of the average citizen to know what they want in a political leader and to vote accordingly. That goes for famous people as well. Every time an Average Joe gets into a political discussion, there is, to some degree, an attempt to sway the other side. Every time a politician is out stumping, they’re doing exactly what you think is wrong for celebs to do.

Besides, the fact that someone is a celebrity doesn’t mean they can’t be well-versed in politics or any “important” subject. And if a person is easily swayed by “sparkly-shiney” speakers, it speaks volumes more about them than about the celebrity.

(sorry about the fucked-up quotes…damn it…)

He made the same claim to Jon Stewart on The Daily Show. It should be very easy to confirm this. Any way you look at it, he’s full of shit. But he was damn funny on SNL.
