Am I the only one who has noticed that the current democrat candidate for the vice-presidency sounds exactly like
the father of the family that Gordon Shumway, aka Alf,
lived with? He even looks like that father. Listen to the way he pronounces his sounds, the slight hesitation, the overall mannered way of speaking. I wonder if the actor and the democrat candidate for the vice-presidency come from the same area. Help, linguists!
Max Wright (the father in Alf) was born in Detroit – I can’t find any other biographical information quickly. Joseph Lieberman is from Connecticut. Any similarities in their speech are probably not due to their childhood.
Max Wright also plays the boss on the current ABC show Norm
and is (or was- I believe she may have passed away) married to the lady from such notable movies as Throw Mama From the Train, Goonies, and Deadly Friend (don’t remember name- Anne Ramsey, maybe?).
she had no tongue.
So you can’t (or don’t) name the VP candidate but you know the name of the family from ALF?
“Ain’t that America, home of the free…”
even worse, Mojo.
he doesn’t know the Veep candidate, but he knows Alf’s real name back on his own planet. The family’s name was Tanner.
worst of all, Jm J. Bullock was brought in for the last season of Alf, to spice things up.
That reminds me of a comedian who said, “Okay, little priority quiz for you. What was the name of the black character on Facts of Life?”
The audience responded in unison, “TOOTIE!”
And then he said, “Who is the Secretary of Defense?”
Dead silence. Then laughter.
